  • Hi everyone
My name is Tracey. I will be 53 next month, 5ft tall, menopausal and overweight.
Actually I managed to loose 2 stone with Slimming World, but unfortunately 8lb has crept back on over the last year. I know what this is; we bought a holiday home in France and usually spend every other weekend there as my husband is semi retired. I can’t resist having a glass of wine, French bread, cheese etc 😥. I saw Doctor Mosely on TV yesterday and had a light bulb moment: yes, this could be for me!! On with weeks we normally go to France, we catch the Wednesday night Eurotunnel, so what’s to stop me fasting on Mondays and Wednesday’s, taking my food with me to eat on the way whilst my husband eats his Burger King? That way I can enjoy my weekend sensibly whilst out there. The weeks I am home, I will do Tuesday and Thursday. I just feel that this will fit in with my new life style. I really don’t want to put on the weight again. I would really welcome any advice. Xx

A glass of wine every once is a while is OK. A glass every night is maybe a problem. 7 cal per gram in alcohol. Straight to the liver and processed and stored as fat. Bread or any simple carb is a big no no. It will spike your insulin which leads to storage as glycogen. Once your liver and muscle cells are full, all excess is then stored as fat. Eliminate sugar, fruit juice, carbs like bread, rice, pasta, potatoes. Cheese or any good fats like almonds, walnuts, avocados are OK.

I am not very good with white bread anyway it always makes me feel really bloated. I love cheeses and still take my ryvita out with me so shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I love avocado, olives, fish etc so going to try and stick to a Mediterranean style of eating.
Feeling very hungry at the moment but have coped better than I thought I would.
