  • Hi all. I started just over a month ago and have completed 10 fast days. Of these, 2 were more restricted than fasts as I blew the 600 and did about 1000 cals instead. I hope to lose about 10lbs on this plan.

That said, compared to my former WOE, I feel I should have shed a decent amount.

This also coincided with me starting weight training again, about 3-4 times a week.

I weigh in rarely (to avoid disappointment!) but am slightly dismayed to find I have only lost about 2.5lbs.

However, I have lost belly fat for sure, my physique has changed a bit and my gym shorts sit half way down my butt, so things are clearly changing.

So humour me! Is this the old adage that muscle is heavier than fat and the reality is I have probably lost far more FAT but put on heavier muscle ?????

My waist measurement has only gone down by 0.5 inch but then I have been doing a fair bit of abs stuff in the gym.

As an aside, I have found that for the two days after a fast, if I eat properly, my strength feels supercharged so I will not be giving up despite what the scales say – I feel so much stronger.

I also have a totally different, almost respectful attitude to food I have never had before. I almost quite like being a little hungry as I’ve convinced myself its good for me.

Any views and comments would be really appreciated. Thanks to all and keep the faith!

hi Beebop and welcome to the forum!!

sounds to me like you are doing everything right, and a loss is a loss no matter how small lol, my guess is as you suspect, that you have gained muscle which is heavier than fat 🙂
I wouldn’t worry about the scales, you are loosing inches and that is far more noticeable so well done!!
so keep going, and good luck 🙂

    Hello Beebop!
Well, it all sounds good! And muscle weighs more that fat. I also have decided to weigh monthly as I think it’s better phsycologically and like you, I now enjoy the discipline of the fast and enjoy and appreciate the ‘eating’ days!
    Good luck!

lol – I love these type of posts. You are getting fantastic results that everyone can see but because the scales aren’t showing what you want to see you worry about it.

The quesion that needs to be asked is would you like to be 85 kilos and soft and squidgy and bulky or 90 kilos and leaner, slimmer and more toned? I know which I would choose. 🙂

The results you are getting are fantastic. Ignore the scales for now and enjoy those visible results. No one knows the numbers that you get on the scale except for you.

thanks to you guys for massaging my ego – I was starting to get a bit disheartened but kinda new that was a bit stupid! Thanks for the support
