  • hello all, i’m totally new to this, started today and found this site and registered. i’ve had breakfast and lunch and so far had 281 calories. am rather nervous about getting through the next 4 or so hours before my evening meal. looking forward to bed time. so glad i found this site and forums. is like support. well done and good luck all. x

    I’ve just started too (first fast day yesterday) and I’m glad to have found the support here. When I started low carbing 6 years ago I joined a forum and it was a huge benefit.

    Try not to fear the hunger pangs, it means your body is doing good stuff with the fat i.e. burning it! Keep yourself hydrated and you’ll be fine.

    I have done my first week and on my first fast day I used the mindset of having surgery by thinking ‘nil by mouth’ (did have water and tea though) and it helped a lot. Fasting wasn’t as bad as I feared…I didn’t melt away. The next one was so much easier too.

    We are programmed to fear hunger but with 5:2 there is the great psychological boost of knowing we can eat normally the next day.
