  • Hi,

I kind of started slowly by an occasional fasting day and then really turned to 5:2. It works out pretty well so far, I lost 5 kg in May.

Unfortunately I broke my leg. Until the health insurance approves a walking cast I’m not allowed to put any weight on my broken leg, which leaves me quite sedentary. I’m very overweight and thus cannot hop much on my healthy foot with the cruches, because I fear this will not endure the stress.

I managed to create a yoga exercise that is possible with my broken leg, but as I’m not moving besides that 45 min per day, I’m constantly freezing. My flat is quite cold, even though I turned on the heater (in June!), so it seems everything has turned against me.

Has anyone of you an idea what I could do to warm up (besides wearing warm clothes while sitting at my desk?

    Thanks
    Debby

    Consider wraps that have magnets.

You didn’t mention where you need to warm up and there are different wraps for parts of the body, including a vest.

Heat is transferred with direct contact to the body and can be accelerated with moisture. Once you achieve the heat required remove the magnet strap.

Nymphenburg, my apartment can get quite cold, both my son and I find drinking hot liquids helpful.

Some people on the facebook groups recommend stock or boullion cubes diluted in a mug of hot water as – it certainly warms you up too. They recommend as a way to last a fast as well as keeping warm. Careful not to have too many as some can be high in salt.

Thank you very much for your replies. I tried and found that indeed hot tea is quite helpful and in addition an afternoon nap with my hottie to “defrost”.

The health insurance finally approved the walking cast, so this motionless torment will soon be over!

Glad to hear things are looking up for you, Nymphenburg!

I have been doing ADF and 5:2 for a little over a year. When I first started the program I was always cold. My home thermostat hadn’t changed so I guess the fasting was slowing my metabolism and lowering my body temperature. I’ve read that people who do calorie restriction do lower there body temperatures. In any event I either got used to it or something else adjusted over time. It is no longer a problem. I know that might now be much help right now, but there is hope.
