  • Think I will do a FD tomorrow, had two sausages two bacon and two fried eggs and small tin of tomatoes,so probably over for a fast day.Denise goes to doctors in the morning so I don’t think I can stay up until 3am In the morning for hockey.Going to go to Withington for gym type rehab,it cost £20 for the year,it’s in a church hall but has the equipment and is run by people who have had an heart attack.Usually we put Christmas stuff up on my son’s birthday the 12th of December, kids used to mither, when we putting the tree up so stuck to my son’s birthday ever since.

    Good evening everyone,

CakeyWakey yes that was the length of wait we had sadly my neighbour had another stroke just after i left last night and passed away in the early hours of this morning I am so upset, so today has been a FD as not felt like eating.

    Good evening

So so sorry about your neighbour Tabby, so sad. In days to come you’ll know you did right by him when many others would have left him in the hospital. I think Dave had similar earlier in the year when he lost a neighbour and had been so good running errands and checking he was ok. That’s the nice thing about this forum we share so much and provide support in all areas not just 5:2.

Talking of 5:2 I’m on the train home and don’t get back until 10. On 232 calories today from a coffee and a couple of squares of chocolate. Tummy grumbling but trolley been past twice and I’ve ignored it. So feeling positive I’ll have another successful fast done this wek.

What’s a cooking stone Jean? Intrigued and off to google. I’m so impressed with all your comments to each of us personally. Either you have a super duper memory or spent ages scrolling back and checking what each of us has been up to. Much appreciated.

Good luck at the doctors for Denise, hope she gets some positive options.

Pseu hope you’re not so tired tonight, can’t help with dinner ideas as fast day for me. But my daughter was heading home to make stir fry with pork that sounded very yummy.

Did solicitors to ok? So much to do, hugs to you, your mum and family.

I love our amazon delivery man Kay,he always bringbiscuits for the woof. Woof loves him too. I like Jeans plan of being extra specially nice to delivery people during this busy time for them.

Hello to Gizmo, KL, Minols and Lynne too

Pseu, hope you had a shorter day in the end. What did you have for tea?

Jean, I wasnt fasting yesterday, hence the wine!! Fasting tomorrow, with you I think.

Dave, shame your rehab has finished, but at least you are better. You will have to find something else to replace. Hope Denise gets on ok at the drs tomorrow.

I couldnt be bothered cooking again, just been snacking on cheese and crackers apart from my porridge earlier. Not exactly healthy!

    Right Jungle time!!

    Porridge is very healthy

    Dave..
Good luck to Denise tomorrow hope they have some answers and better pain killers…

    Tabbby…
I am so sorry for your neighbour how very sad…at least you was with him over that long period supporting and chatting making him comfortable….sending you hugs..

    Cakey…
It’s a pizza/ baking stone..it’s for my quick rustic bread..I have found a recipe, after a two hour rise it goes in the fridge… the dough keeps in the fridge for 14 days, you cut a piece a size of a grapefruit off and make a round cob loaf…( I think it makes 4) ….I thought it would be nice for over the weekend…

A long day for you but you are now heading home…I can’t remember, I scroll back on the posts and read as I then write…I was short of time this morning so they were a bit short…

It was Minols being extra nice to delivery men but I feel the same..all the busy traffic it must test their patience and cranky people..well done on your fast day…

    Kay..
I must of read it wrong..lol..sounded too good …yes we are fasting together tomorrow…..I can’t watch the jungle gives me nightmares!!

    Jean x

I’ll be fasting tomorrow! Mum came for dinner tonight, won’t fast while she’s here, she doesn’t approve! Had a low day today though, just had a tofu & veg stir fry, very nice, cobbled together, had planned soup but the broccoli was past it…
Solicitor said we wouldn’t need to get probate for Dad, but then his (small!) life insurance policy insists on it, so we have to do that. I’m not ptepared to do the paperwork, sounds a nightmare, so we’ll get the solicitor to do it! Poor Mum’s so upset with it all even though I’m doing most of the work, it’s still worrying her. She enjoyed dinner with us tonight though.

I am fasting tomorrow too,I have been hiding Heidi’s chews so she has to use her super nose to find them,I have hid some under her bed and on shelves also on the table next to my chair, last night I put my apple on the table and she came up and nicked it 😵😵so I must be careful when I have one now,she loves fruit.

    Evening everyone

Sorry I haven’t been around, tough time at the moment. I’ve spent most of the day been thinking about events this time last year, especially as it’s around this time I had the call to get to the hospital without delay. Glad I booked a few days off on annual leave so I didn’t have to cope with work.

HH, I was in a similar position to your mum. Phil had a credit union account for years with around 5k in it, which they doubled when he passed away, but insisted that I obtain probate. It actually was much easier and quicker than I thought it would be, very simple for a solicitor.

Lots going on, everyone seems to be doing so well with their fasts. I’m hoping to get back in the swing next week and make a concerted effort up to Christmas.

I’m still having to eat wheat a couple of times a day so I can have tests in around a month, but regardless of what they show I’ll be cutting out the gluten again. I’m getting so bloated, I know I don’t normally have a flat stomach, but it became sold and very distended and Bec told me I looked pregnant.

I will try and get back to checking in daily.

Thanks again everyone for your support.

    Lynne x

Lynne- thinking of you at this difficult time; sorry if I’m reminding you of things posting about it on here… Hope your tummy goes down soon- I get bloated & stomach cramps if I eat any now since stopping it for keto.
Tabby- hugs to you, sorry to hear about your neighbour, I’m sure that he appreciated you being there for so long…
Dave- hope that Denise gets something to help at the doctors- big hug to her. Good to have another group for you to go to!
Jean- hope your fast day goes well & you keep busy as usual! No baking hopefully! Can’t do scones myself very well, they don’t rise very well, too heavy handed probably! The bread recipe sounds good; any chance of posting it, the family love home made bread.
Cakey- hope you survived the journey & trolley temptations! You mentioned your mum’s memory problems- I’ve just read ‘Contented Dementia’ -can’t remember who by!- was really helpful, would recommend it.
Minols- hope the weather’s not too bad if you’re out & about visiting at all today..
Pseudo- what did you do for your dinner?
KL, Gill, Gizmo..anyone else- have a good day!
Might do a bit of Christmas shopping today, it’s awful but as we’ll see some family for Dad’s funeral might as well give them something rather than posting…
Hungry already as Xena woke us up at 5am! But need to fast, I’m sure the 3lbs which have gone on are all concentrated on my thighs! Good luck to everone else!

Not fasting today as planned, back to docs yesterday for athritus , now in my feet☹, want to get pain under control tablets 3× a day with meals that 12 a day wuth food.So still on cal count re-arange fasting when reduce tablet done 1 day fast 800 cals then did 1000 cals due to reflux.Hope all goes well for every body.

    Morning all.

Some difficult times around for some people… So impressed when you manage to come on here.

Tabby – sorry to hear about your neighbour…

Lynn… Anniversaries and significant events – rough in the anticipation and the marking so thinking of you and the girls with Christmas coming up.

CW – always impressed with your discipline when travelling!

FD for me today and coming up for my monthly weight check so I have to make it perfect. Two coffee meetings this morning and an evening thing, so hopeful I can do it.

Right, now running late – already been beaten at chess and only just holding my own at scrabble (to be finished later) but a ‘good’ way to start the day. Essentially, a mother never loses (I tell me self!) glad if I win, glad if the boy wins (yeah, right!)

    Mx

    FD today for me

Morning all up early to take Denise to doctors, fast day for me today, was fairly low yesterday but didn’t count as a FD.Its stopped raining so will take the beast out for a walk.Back later.

We are fasting today so joining the mass fast…

    Hedgehog..
I have my Italian focaccia bread which is lovely makes 2 flat loaves , I am setting my cob loaf dough off later today for the weekend I will see how it goes before I send the recipe..

    Dave..
Hide and seek with chews that’s a new one…hope Denise gets sorted…

    Lynne..
I was thinking about you….we lost our 4 parents over Christmas so lots of memories and sadness..

You must feel awful so bloated hope it can soon be sorted…I think you are right if you can sort it by taking out gluten..go with your own feeling..

    Gizmo…
Hope you are soon feeling better and the tablets work….the weather doesn’t help with arthritis mine us playing up..

    Minols..
I am so impressed at all these games so early in the morning…..it definitely wouldn’t be for me, nighttime maybe…lol

Keep strong fasters…these days do come around quick 😂

    Speak later..

    Jean x

Back from doctors, Denise has got some new painkillers but I don’t hold out much hope,I hope I am wrong though. On a plus note my heart scan came back and doctor said it’s very good,no problems at all.Struggling on the fast today but still holding out.

    How’s everybody doing?

We are all finished eating here..weigh in tomorrow…

I have got my batch bread dough done and now resting in the fridge…looking good…I will let you know the out come Hedgehog..

    Dave..
What tablets did they give Denise?…something strong I hope…are they going to do anything?

    Jean x

Her tablets are called Meloxicam 7.5mg,she has to go to a specialist physiotherapist opinion and will be assessed.Still had nothing to eat but it’s been hard today.I keep seeing the advert on telly for War of the World’s,I have been to watch it twice 😁.

    Dave…
I have not heard of them..let’s hope they help..

    X

    Yes fingers crossed🤞

It’s meant to be a new production of The War of the Worlds, they retired the old one. Same music of course but the visuals are all updated. I’m going to see it on the 10th. 😀 OOOOO-LAAAAAA!

Ate a carrot and hummus like I used to on pre-keto fast days. Might have another one, not sure yet. Not too hungry.

Fasting fairly easy today…luckily don’t feel like comfort eating!
Getting worried about mum- she’s in such a muddle with her bank cards, & only has one now. Really hope that her memory improves once things are settled a bit…Xena has been a real pain today too, so feel quite ugh!

I love the oooooolaaaaaaa,I have it on vinyl. It the sound of the sixties tomorrow ,can’t wait.

    Morning All…
A lovely bright day…we are going to meet friends in York….there’s a Christmas Market on …just a walk round and lunch…

Steve lost a pound and I have stayed the same…a heavy week with eating out in the week last weekend visiting and a few cakes made too…so I don’t mind…I have gone down in ounces but not made the pound.

Nothing planned for the week ahead so must have a thoughtful week…

    Decorations up tomorrow…

    Have a good day all…

    Jean x

    Morning!
Jean- have a nice day out at the market, I love York…well done on some weight loss!
Dave- hope you enjoy the concert! Did the doctor say how long the painkillers would take to work for Denise? Do they take time to build up in her system? I really hope they work, fingers crossed…
Minols- another early start for you? Hope your weekend isn’t too busy…
Cakey- hope you have a good weekend after your busy week!
Pseudo- you too, lots of studying to do?
Everyone else have a good Friday too!
Having my hair coloured shortly, still not eaten after yesterday’s FD, feeling a bit desperate to shift something! Might risk the scales when my coffee’s gone down…

    Morning all

Successful fast yesterday and 1lb down. Like you Jean, a few too many extras this week. Plus I have food in transit….

Tabby, so sorry about your neighbour 🙁

HH, hopefully your mum will settle down again soon, its a tough time for you all. Its good that you have Xena.

Dave, hope Denise gets some relief from the new tablets.

Minols, you make me chuckle about games with the boy! Enjoying his wins through gritted teeth.

Jean, enjoy your day. Always have loved York.

Lynne, thinking of you. Hard time of year for you and the girls. Try and do something nice for yourself.

Pseu and CW, well done to you both yesterday and hoping you have a bit of a relax this weekend after busy weeks.

Gizmo, hope you get that pain under control.

    Hi to anyone Ive missed!

Neil and I are off together for 3 days, so hoping to get out and do something, although I think the weather is going to turn bad again here.

Not hungry yet, so going to hold off until later to extend the fast from yesterday.
Theres an event on tonight at the Parish Hall, christmas raffle draw and bingo!! We might go along for an hour or 2 to support it. And tomorrow night its the church light switch on with mince pies 🙂

WotW….now thats a blast from the past! I cant tell you how many times I listened to that on vinyl!!! Ooooolaaaa!

Right need to get moving, laters all x

Denise has only had one tablet so it will take a while to work, hopefully it will.I have lost 4lbs so on target, still a long way to go.I just asked Alexa to play war of the World’s,she started playing the book from audible, just a sample so I stopped her and asked for the music, she played the eve of the war so I was happy with that,it will be on my mind all day now,u must see if the full album is on,I have it on vinyl and CD I think,it’s a lovely day here in sunny Manchester☀️☀️☀️

Just downloaded war of the World’s off Amazon prime, didn’t cost me a penny😁can play it on my echo devices now.

We have had a lovely lunch out and a good catchup with friends …sorted Christmas out again..walked around York Christmas Market ..seems much better than other years very busy with a good atmosphere..

    Dave..
Well done on the 4 lbs off, a pound a week that’s about what you can expect…slowly does it and it keeps off..how much have you lost to date?

War of the World is one of Steves favourites…

All very quiet on here today…

    Have a good evening..

    Jean x

Since I started a diet 44lbs lost,so doing ok.Just ordered taxi for the concert at the Bridgwater Hall.Think it may slow down this month, any loss will be a bonus.

    Dave…

Enjoy your 60’s night…..always difficult couple of weeks over Christmas…..you enjoy Christmas and treats then you draw the line as the New Year starts again…

That’s a great loss, you must be so pleased with yourself, a great achievement…….you have been with us nearly a year..in February??

    Jean x

Dave…..Steve sends a very big well done too…a really big loss….

    X

Dave, enjoy your evening. And well done to the loss so far. I think we will all slow down soon. I really want to maintain over christmas but we’ll see.

Up early didn’t get in until after midnight, concert was great,P J Proby still has the pony tail but his hair is pure white now😆. disaster struck at the interval I was going to the toilet and got to the end of the row and missed the small step down so I went flying right into the crowd 🤸🤸🤸.My knee has a lump the size of a small Easter egg 🤕🤕.The music was good though, Vanity fair,The Fortune’s and Steve Ellis,PJ Proby,The Merseybeats and The Searchers.I feel twice my age this morning, legs very stiff.Hope I can take Heidi out,my son has gone to Swindon to watch hockey and meet some of his Swindon friends.

    Morning All..
    A drizzly day…

Meeting with friends in York I meant to say yesterday Christmas Day food is sorted as we are joining them Christmas Eve till Boxing Day…my finger and brain run away when I am tapping…but I am all sorted anyway…..tree and decorations up today, lights outside may have to wait if it continues to drizzle I don’t want Steve slipping off the steps..I shall post my cards first thing….then it’s just food to be sorted for later in the month.

    Hedgehog..
You can’t loose weight every week..you always do so well…it is annoying when you feel like you have had a good week….still you are about at goal..maintaining will have to kick in……you have so much on at the moment, things will settle down….there is so much paper work, I didn’t realise…

Glad you cooked as one last night it makes a change…I was very much like you with my family…

    Tabbby…
Well done on your 2lbs off, a really good start…..as you can see with Dave what can be achieved in 9 months, he has done really well..

We have a couple of local Xmas markets today, we may go out to the later one, it’s at a large village, give them some support, it starts at 4.30,…quite miserable at the moment.

    Dave..
Poor you….hope your knee calms down, coming out in sympathy with Denise! ..hope you can manage the walk with Heidi….the show sounded very good, a good 60’s night lifts you up..us anyway.

    Have a good weekend everybody…

    Jean x

Very quiet on here today, been taking pain killers and managed to take Heidi out,had to hobble round.Steak for tea😋😋😋.

We have all the decorations up just need a bit of greenery, I shall go out and have a look around for some holly…in the next few days….

Takes some doing took us at least 5 hours..I am sure we are much slower than we used to be…we didn’t manage the local Xmas market as the weather is very wet and couldn’t be bothered…

    Dave ….
Hope your knee is improving maybe some ice packs for the swelling…

    Jean x

I’ll chop some Holly off the bush when I take Heidi out.Quiet a few trees up now and lights on houses.Knee has gone down alot now so on the mend. Will take it easy the rest of the week.

    Evening all!
Dave- poor you, very much in the wars in your house…glad you enjoyed the concert though.
Jean- so early with your cards! We usually get the decorations up early, but not this year.
Tabby- well done on the loss! Be good at the market!
Mum’s gone home now, my feet are up been a busy day… Had a lovely walk with Xena, then our Church prayer thing (rained but we still prayed for lots of people!), lots of jobs done in the afternoon, & mum came for dinner. Xena was strangely sleepy, cuddly & docile- I love this Xena!!

Managed to take Heidi out twice, not very far the second time. Feeling tired now so no hockey tonight.Hopefully it will be repeated tomorrow.

Morning all! Xena awake early, hubby got up with her, a first! But I couldn’t get back to sleep anyway…😞

    Morning All..
    A drizzly day yet again…

Popping out to meet up with daughter for a coffee a Costa…..her hubby on nights, in bed now working lots of hours and is very grumpy…he runs the world!….SD sometimes does a 72 hour week, she just gets on with it.
My life has revolved with shifts, my dad, my ex and myself and never had the carry on he does…

A couple of shopping bits which we can’t get in our area…then a lazy afternoon….

Having a chicken dinner tonight then having a tight week…we are fasting Monday..

    Hedgehog..
You won’t want to do Christmas but you will for the boys, your Dad would of wanted you too..my mum died the 18th Dec so I know how you feel…you will do the best you can…you have been so busy lots more to it than you realise…take time for yourself too…hugs to you..

My cards went second class, they will arrive later in the week…

    Dave…
Make sure you rest up..at least you are improving…..are Denise’s tablets helping her yet?…what’s for dinner today, any mouth watering recipes..

    Tabbby..
Did you enjoy the walk around the Xmas market…we decided against it, we were a bit busy and raining…

    Kay..
What did you get up to with Neil on your three days off together…?…are you back on track?

Everyone is very quiet are you all being Good???..😇😇😇😇😇

    Have a good day..

    Jean x

Jean having the same as you, chicken dinner, Denise’s knee is still the same,no improvement but when we went to the concert on Friday coming out when it was over we couldn’t get a taxi so had to walk to bus stop which was a very long walk and then walk home from the bus stop which is a good walk,so that didn’t help her recovery. We were two old crocks hobbling around Piccadilly gardens😝😝😝.

    Dave…
Getting old isn’t nice…Steve is having to think through on having an operation on his back or not…he is very much better I think it’s probably Not…he has to have a pre op check in a couple of weeks but we haven’t even decided on that yet…the decision has to be taken next week…

We limp along together but get a bit better once in the flow of walking…it’s bad when you and Denise have walking problems as you need each other’s support…glad you are improving…

Chickens on now cooking …looking forward to it…

    Jean x

Chicken cooked will put Yorkshire pudding on later when veg is half done.Been out with Heidi twice today, walking more or less normally now, knee sore to touch but otherwise ok.Will have to look into doing exercises now rehab has finished, may give my knee another week to recover.

    Hi everyone

Well the trip to the market was very nice until i fell and I ended up in A&E i have a fractured wrist and a broken nose and a lovely big black eye, I wouldnt mind but when the family was having mulled wine i had a cup of tea so cant blame the drink I felt such a fool but the final nail was when a young girl said oh the poor old soul.

Dinner tonight was lovely roast beef, roast pots, yorkies and veg all made by hubby and kids now doing the dishes and they are going to put the tree up for me this evening, I love it when they are here the house is noisey but it is the way it was when they were young, my middle daughter is expecting her first baby she is due on Christmas eve so exciting times ( she was told she could never have children so it shows how much they know).

Dave that sounds like me and Hubby we hobble about too so you are not alone have you spoke to your doctor about physio for your knee, hope you enjoyed your dinner

Jean my sister in law had a big back opp 2 year ago at the age of 60 and she is great now she says she is glad she had it done but her option was get it done or end up i a wheelchair so she had nothing to lose

Hedgehogs, take time for yourself it will be very hard but your dad would want you to enjoy Christmas sending you hugs, I know how hard it is i lost my mum at the end of August.

    Evening All…

Enjoyed our chicken dinner, Yorkshire’s are a must for us Yorkshire girls…a bottle of red between us…an inch left in the glass then we are fasting 😂

    Tabbby..
You and Dave what are we going to do with you…you sound as if you got the gold star!…Dave the silver…hope you soon feel better get everyone looking after you…

My daughter was very stressed again I think her hubby makes her that way at this time of the year…I do hope she calms down soon…he made her very ill last year…but I can’t say anything…

How exciting a baby for Christmas…hope it’s after Christmas for the child’s sake..it wants it’s own birthday…a him or her?? Do we know….

    Dave..
Hope your chicken is as good as ours was…😂…

    Jean x
