  • Still had no food today, feeling very hungry now so will put my meal on soon.We have a leaky roof so been waiting for a roofer all day but he never turned up😒,I hope I have lost weight this week, not had that much food.I get upset by bad news concerning dogs,I feel awful and worry about mine.

Likewise, Dave – can’t help but personalise to your own beloved dog. What is it about them that they get so under our skin and into our hearts. Ridiculously soft about dogs.

Sorry to hear about the roof – never rains but it pours, eh!

How have everybody else’s days gone? I’m done for the day…just need to keep away from anything edible now. Wish I could just go to bed and wake up tomorrow, because of course, now I’ve had something to eat I could probably eat everything I see, and as I’m about to take the boy to cubs that could get me into serious trouble. When was the last conviction for cannibalism in this country?

Not long now – stay strong.

    Mx

    Hello

Been food shopping today and managed to stay away from the chocolate and biscuit aisles bought some satsumas and grapes instead.

Not sure if we will be getting any snow over the weekend it does say north east of Scotland and I’m pretty central so hopefully it will miss me.

    Evening All…
I managed to go all day till eating until 6.15 tonight, very new to me…we went out looking for walking shoes for Steve none found but totally out of the house, I was getting quite hungry..

All finished now hopefully weigh in won’t be too bad tomorrow…really set my mind on being really really good..honest..a off day tomorrow but keeping it low on naughties..steak, onions, salad and a very small jacket…one wine..😬

    Brad..
That’s a bad one a leaking roof hope you can soon sort it…

Hope the weathers not too bad for everyone…soon come and soon gone I think…I hope…Caravanning Sunday 😀

Keep strong the ones still waiting to eat…we are all finished now.

    Jean x

Sounds like everyone has stayed strong… Minols, you have temptations more than some I guess- does your boy eat when he’s back from cubs? How’s OH’s knee after the skiing mishap?
Jean- well done going without all day- I’d rather do that, once I start otherwise, stopping is harder!
Dave- hope you get the leaky roof fixed soon.
Kept carbs low (& calories lowish- below TDEE).Back to a FD for me tomorrow 🙁

Be careful with grapes 3 calories per grape and 4 if they have seeds.Had a meal now but i always feel very hungry after a meal on fast days, don’t know why.Our new table and chairs come tomorrow so that will keep me busy with all the flat-packs plus i have to do neighbors shopping plus ours tomorrow.

The grapes are sat happily in my fridge ready for me to eat them as I’m fasting now until Saturday morning.

I bought some porridge today so have a big decision to make will it be that or Weetabix to break my fast in about thirty hours it’s a tough decision. 😊

    Morning all!
FD for me as well, Typhoo…
Keeping busy today to get me through!

    Morning all.
Just back from my 3rd morning run! Annette – how far into couch to 5k are you? I always hated running but having worked so hard to get fit for a big trek last year I kind of slumped over Christmas. I thought the 30min run/walk app might be something I could fit in… But a bit nervous when I get beyond the 1min of running I’m currently on. And I had a great running partner today as the boy decided to come… He has no problems and he can Talk and run at the same time! A great distraction. I would live to have the confidence in 8 weeks time to just get up and go for a run knowing I could do 5k just like that!

Good luck with fasting if today is your day. How’s the weigh in, Jean? Hope it’s good for you both.

HH… The boy now needs a snack after Cubs… He’s scrawny but his appetite is really picking up. Managed to resist, though. Thanks for asking about the Oh… Knee is much better.

Right, better get ready for work… No-one should have to see me post-run!

    Mx

Morning, sounds like everyone’s doing well!

Jean, I do the same on FD’s .. I prefer not to eat at all until later in the evening, once I start I’m more likely to keep eating lol. It works for me, but I know everyone’s different in their approach.

Minols, I’m useless at running, so fair play to you! I walk a lot, but could do with adding something more. I’ve got a bit lazy lately.

Hedgehogs, have a good FD today, like you say keeping busy is key.

I am so proud that I got through my FD yesterday, it was the first in a while, and although headache was a bit of an issue, I did it! Feeling great this morning 🙂 Next one will be Monday!!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend, I’m at a surprise party tonight for one our friends, and then Southport on Sunday for a VW meet. Really looking forward to it, weather permitting of course! Can’t believe yet more snow is forecast, winter is never ending this year!

    x

    Morning everyone!

DF – What VW do you have? I used to have one of the ’70s campervan/buses, it was like an unofficial common room when I was in art college. 😀

Well done everyone for sticking to their fast. Yesterday was my last one for the week, though I don’t need to eat much in the day so will likely not eat today until I get home.

It’s good to hear two of you are doing couch to 5k, I started doing it last year and then stopped when it got too dark to be safe out running alone. I’m so glad it’s finally getting lighter, even if it is still cold.

    Hi Pseu!

We used to have one of the 70’s bay window campers too .. we sold it about 5 years ago. We have a T25 now, which is more practical to drive daily. I do love the older ones though 🙂 Other half has a MK1 Golf Cabriolet too, he’s VW mad lol! So great that you had one! 😛

    Morning All….
    Another wet day….

Hairdressers for me for cut and blow..a good cut as I keep just have a bit off..1/2 to 3/4 inch ouch….😬

We are both the same, weight wise this morning..I am pleased as I was up by 3 lbs in the week…making a definite effort now, it has to be our NFDs were we are going wrong..I will own up to a batch of tiffin of late although eaten slowly over 10 days it still was about..all gone now…and Mother’s Day loads eaten.

    I shall have a breakfast/brunch later today.

Everybody looked as if all FDs went well yesterday and were successful…😀

    Minols…
Well done on getting ready for the 5k..I use to enjoy the running machine but never could get running outside..I do enjoy walking, clearing your head, the fresh smells and the birds…

    DF..
Lovely to have you back and posting …a busy weekend for you, enjoy the surprise party ( not if for me) and back with the out with the VW meet …good first FD in a while well done….snow shouldn’t be laying… coming and going 🤞

    Pseu..
Lovely to have you back too…have a good day, you are very good not eating again till late or is that naughty!…I get nervous walking away from the road, we have a lovely river bank only 50 yards away but gets quite remote as it goes away from us….so boringly I walk the along the road…

    Lynne..
Hope the bathroom is finished and you sorted the floor out…enjoy your meal out with the girls…

I have just booked us on an organised Upton Country Park walk, Nordic Walking, about 40 mins drive from us for next Thursday it will on fasting day so keep us busy, there is a cafe so maybe coffee too..looking forward to that. I am going to try and do one organised walk a week if it goes well, try and socialise more..we are always happy on our own, a new area (now 15 years not really new) for both of us so we really should try harder and mix 😂

Our next fast will be Sunday as travelling…it always works well..

Have a lovely day…and a good day for the fasters, hedgehog and Typhoo ..

    Jean x

    Hi all

Jean – love the idea of Nordic Walking. No time to fit an activity in just yet, but maybe one day. Meanwhile I’ll cope with just walking as much as possible between things. The running is a bit of a whim…I’ve always absolutely hated it, but realised if I could run for 1 minute, maybe my body could gradually get used to it. I know they say that putting work through the bones helps to keep them strong and fight of some of the age things…but I won’t ever be doing long distances, because I reckon what you win on the bones you’ll lose on the need for replacement knees!

DF / Pseu – I grew up with a VW…the orange and white camper of the 70s. We called her Matilda because she ‘waltzed’ in the wind! We now have 2 old Beetles – needed something for the OH and I thought it would be cheaper than therapy – ha, I don’t think so now! One is customised with his own style, and the bench seat has gone to create 1 good seat for the boy and space next to him for the dogs. The other is pretty untouched, 60 years old, and when he bought it he drove it 10 hours up the length of South Island NZ in torrential rain – the only problem being that the hooter sounded quite pathetic by the time he got on the ferry. It dried out, though, and was back to it’s chirpy self soon enough. Beetles are so much fun – not just driving them, but they make everyone smile when they see them…just lovely!

    Catch you all later.

    Mx

    Morning everyone

DF, I knew you could do it. Enjoy the VW meet.

Minols, I downloaded the C25K app a couple of years ago and that’s as close as I got to running. Hannah ‘thinks’ we’re doing it together in June. We’ll see.

Hedgehogs, good luck with the FD today, I hope the housework is a good distraction.

Jean, hope the snow doesn’t interfere with your plans for the weekend.

CW, you up to anything this weekend?

Pseudo, I’m loving the longer days, just need the weather to match.

Dave, hope you get the roofer sorted. I’m having a nightmare chasing ‘trades’ at the moment.

Typh00, porridge wins every time. My breakfast of choice.

Well everyone seemed to do well yesterday apart from me. Bathroom problems with the toilet, broken tile which can’t be matched, electrician needed again, now need to find someone to do the flooring was all too much and I felt myself getting more stressed as the day went on. At least the bath is plumbed so had a quick dip last night surrounded by building materials, not very relaxing.

As a result, yesterday ended up a McDonals/Greek yogurt fest. I was planning a semi FD, but struggle if I change days. So today I’ll be liquids only until either chip shop/carvery tonight. I’ll have a low day tomorrow as Hannah now tends to fast on a Saturday. She’s lost a couple of kilo’s since mid January but her BMI is only 21 and she’s only looking to drop the few alcohol fuelled pounds she’s gained since starting uni. Gives me hope though that 1FD a week may be all I’ll need to keep me at goal, when I eventually get there.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Lynne x

Roofer said he would come today at 11-30am and the table and chairs are being delivered today too, going to Sainsbury`s soon to do the shopping,Denise has got to stay at home for the delivery,so she will have to hope i don’t buy lots of stuff we don’t need. The living room light has just flashed which means I have a text message, its from IKEA saying my delivery will be here shortly, its a good idea the lights flashing when i get a text message, but Denise does not like it.I am drooling now thinking about the seeded wholemeal cobs from Sainsburys.

    Hi Minols,

So lovely to hear you love VW’s too. Beetles are amazing, some of my friends restore them, actually one of them is whose party I’m going to later. Our 1970’s camper was called Dolly lol 🙂 Beige and white. So much money in them now isn’t there?? A good investment to keep hold of 😉

Dave, be strong at Sainsburys lol 🙂

Lynne, don’t worry about McDonalds, it sounded a stressful day for you! Hope today is calmer.

Jean, hope your days going okay so far 🙂

    Hedgehogs, how’s it going?

    xx

Lynn – I reckon home refurbs are one of those life experiences that make takeaways a blessing not a curse. These things are often more fraught than we (well, the workmen) anticipate!

We’re off out tonight for dinner. Just decided we need to take my 24 hours off seriously for once. So I will down tools and head off out with the boy and my OH and stay away until tomorrow evening when I shall pick things up again ready for Sunday morning. If I can’t see the state of the house I can’t be troubled by it!

    Mx

Broke my fast with a apple turnover at lunch time..😬…not quite what I had in mind…but we really need Friday treats to keep us going through the week….a carrot springs to mind..lol

    Minols..
Enjoy your 24 hours off and away…it’s just good to have family time…

    Lynne..
Lovely to have Hannah fasting with you tomorrow a bit of company…. hope the bathroom soon gets sorted and no more problems…I have just text the campsite to say we will be there for 12.30..so all on..we are lovely and warm so no problem…hope no deep snow..😬

    Dave…
Flashing lights…I think I am with Denise with that one..be good on the shopping and hope the flat pack is good for you….

    DF…
I did well no breakfast…a bit of a waver across lunch but I am OK…I think the VW campers look so lovely…..when do you start going away?….or waiting for weather improvement…

Just planned our meals for next week so I will only take what I need….soup for FD evening on Sunday.

Hope hedgehog and typhoo are holding out…really cold outside..

    Jean x

    Hi everyone!
Typh00, Lynne, Brads27, CW, Hedgehogs, Jean, DF and Minols thank you all for your very warm welcomes and advice.

Jean, so sorry to hear of your SD’s furry friend crossing the rainbow bridge.

I have been doing some research in to my foods and have compiled my shopping list ready for a trek round the supermarket tomorrow. I even went out yesterday lunchtime from work and purchased a trusty jar of Bovril! I’m using the NutraCheck app at the mo as I prefer it’s layout to myFitnessPal (I do have both).

I do have a question though if you don’t mind helping me? Someone has said I shouldn’t run on a fast day? When I say run I use that term loosely as mentioned previously. I use the treadmill in the gym at work and run at a speed of 6kmph and at an incline of 4 making sure I do 3k at least. It’s nothing mental but enough to bring on a bit of a sweat. Am I ok to still do this on a FD?

FD’s will def be Mondays and Thursdays from the advice of you guys and start date will be 19th, so Monday coming. I was considering a liquid one as I am going to make some Cawl over the weekend to help any cravings I may have.

Thank you all again for such a lovely welcome, here’s to a fab weekend xx

    Hi all,

Annette, a few of us will be fasting with you Monday no doubt. I definitely will, so we’ll get through it together 🙂 I have exercised on my FD’s before and haven’t had any problems. Everyone’s different though, so if you feel up to it, perhaps try and see how you feel. Trial and error x

Jean, we went away in the camper for the first time in February to a VW show, it was so cold though. Usually any time from now we start to venture out. I can’t wait for the summer when we can sit and sip wine in a field lol x

Probably my last post till Monday now, when I’ll be back for another FD .. have a lovely weekend everyone, see you Monday!

ps. Jean, I bet the apple turnover was delicious! A carrot definitely wouldn’t cut it with me on a Friday 😛

I’m managing- really, really hungry today for some reason… Shopping kept me busy so far anyway, no housework yet though! Hubby home early from jury service, it’s going into a 3rd week for him though 🙁 (Also been sorting out FILs photos- bloomin BIL has suddenly asked for some stuff, even though he didn’t want anything! Photos are fine, but he’s too late for the other things he’s asked for, it was all sorted a while ago!)
DF well done yesterday, back into the swing!
Lynne- sounds like you were very restrained given the day you’d had! Hope you have a nicer weekend with the girls! Did Hannah make up with her boyfriend again?
Jean- the walking plan sounds good- I’d not be able to resist a cake in a café though, couldn’t just have a cuppa!
Dave- hope the table & chairs go together okay, & hope you were strong in Sainsbury’s?
Typhoo- how’s it going? Have had to buy hot cross buns from asda for the boys, hope I can resist them!!
Minols- I’ve never got past a minute when I’ve tried running, sadly it’s not for me!
I do agree that it’s probably not great for the joints!

I’m accepting no blame for any hot cross buns, chocolate or biscuits bought by any member here if accidentally mentioned by myself 😎.

My fast is going well so far just making sure I drink plenty but am feeling a little colder than I would on a non Fd.

I would do a couch to 5km run if there was a promise of chocolate at the end of it or maybe even some biscuits.

    Evening All..

The days gone like a normal Friday day off..too much but very enjoyable..wine out at the moment…then line drawn…I am ok about it…

    Annette..
Michael Mosely had a programme a few weeks ago doing different tests on people…he stated excerise on a fasting body burns twice as much fat ….particularly first thing in the morning before breakfast / any food..

We will be fasting Sunday as away and easier..there will be plenty fasting Monday..

    DF..
I think the apple turnover opened the flood gates…😂

    Hedgehog…
Families too much some times…two weeks now and step daughter still not talking…she did go to her aunt and apologise last week on how she has treat her..so something has hit a cord….

We are ok on a cafe if FD tea only…we just smell the cakes…lol

    Typhoo..
Glad everything’s ok and nothing naughty about….

    Jean x

The flat packs were delivered and the roofer came at the same time,he is coming back to do the repairs on Sunday or Monday weather permitting. We have just put together 8 flat packs, all fitted very well,my neighbor just called and asked if one of us could go round has he is a bit stressed,so Denise has gone round to sit with him for a while.

Morning all! Covering of the white stuff again here today!
Dave- your neighbour sounds lucky to have you & Denise to help out! Hope he’s okay…
Jean- hope that the step-daughter will speak to Steve soon- probably when she wants something else, lol!
Typhoo- you & Annette made me laugh with the running- ice cream vans & chocolate/ biscuits! I have to say I hate running that much that I wouldn’t bother for any of that, & that’s saying something! (No blame intended for the hot cross buns yesterday- I was hoping for sympathy for the temptation which was put before me…!
Tinker- somehow missed your post yesterday about exercise on a FD- I think lots of people do, & Jean said yesterday that MM has found fat burning is best if you exercise before food/ when fasting. If you look through the other threads, I’m sure there’s been several on this topic, so you might get better advice!
Not sure what’s happening today, weather dependent. Both boys working (peace & quiet!)- youngest will have done 23 hours this week as well as school- loads of overtime at Subway… poor love is not very confident at times, & often convinced that people don’t like him, it’s only just dawned on him that clearly his supervisor must think he does a good job, or they wouldn’t ask him to do so many hours! Including leaving him in the evenings on his own, closing up/ cashing up etc.! We do keep telling him that he does a good job, but it takes a long time to sink in…
NonFD for me, but low carb still… Have a good weekend everyone, & hope not too much snow!

    Morning All…

It has been snowing but not laying…stopped now..

Having a late Breakfast/ brunch…see how I go…Steve is doing his usual…a heavy unplanned day yesterday but nice…I really feel we have to have one day off to compensate this way of life…it keeps Steve going too…..back on board today.

    Dave..
Hope you are pleased with your furniture and Denise sorted your neighbour out and he’s ok…

    Hedgehog..
What a busy bee your young son is…how old is he? 23 hours work and school well done to him….you have hit the nail on the head with SD, although we have told her now no more, that’s why no talking!

NFD for us a small dinner tonight..a thoughtful day…

    DF..
Enjoy your party and VW Meet hope the weathers kind where you are…we are still planned to go…

    Annette..
Hope you sorted your exercise out and all planned for Monday…

    Kay..
Are you waving..👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻..are you settling into your new house and area…don’t forget us let’s have you back and on board…

Lynne, Typhoo, Pseu, …hope you all ok…and anyone I have forgotten…

Snowing again…have a good weekend everyone..

    Jean x

    Morning everyone

Hedgehogs, enjoy the peace with the boys both working. Bec’s going to get a part time job in the summer but not sure how she’ll work it around her naps.

Jean, final prep today for your few days away. Are you going to ‘forget’ the biscuits.

Dave, you sound like really good old fashioned neighbours. It’s lovely for your neighbour and be nice for you that he’s comfortable enough to call you for help.

Typh00, I’ve given up ‘sugar’ (cakes, biscuits, chocolate, sweets, hot cross buns) for Lent, and the first thing I’m going to eat on Easter Sunday morning (15 sleeps) is an Asda hot cross bun with Kerrygold butter (other supermarkets and butter producers are available). I can taste it now.

Minols, hope you managed to stick to you 24hrs off and had some good family time.

Kay, hope you’re settled in your new house.

    CW, how you doing?

    Annette, you ready for Monday?

Pseudo, any plans for the weekend.

Nice carvery with the girls last night and a FD today for me. May do liquids or have a small meal later, depends on what the others want to eat. Hannah thinks she’s found a new diet. The ‘Wrexham’ diet, last week she lost nearly 3lb. She’s no more active than usual but is finding it quiet tiring so going to bed earlier and probably getting around 9.5-10 hrs a night. I think the fact she’s not going out may also have something to do with it. She always eats healthily but no alcohol calories and off chocolate for Lent. Don’t think I’ll try it though.

Snowing again and under an Amber warning tomorrow. I really love the snow but it’s becoming a nuisance now.

    Lynne x

    Lynne..
No chance of forgetting the biscuits ( kit kats) I had a grumpy fellow on my hands…I don’t know why as we never have them in the house…holiday springs to mind..😬

So cold and windy here we were going to try the poles out but really it’s not worth it…we have 7 busy days ahead so a day in won’t hurt….

Nice to get out together for the carvery meal….something to look forward too. I don’t know what the Wrexham diet is nothing on line…just interested…

We are under a Amber warning and where we are going….not sticking at the moment….

Still not had anything to eat, breakfast in bowl waiting to go…may have it for lunch now.

    Jean x

Not a big loss this week, just half a pound, but better than putting it on.Its been snowing here all morning but not sticking, not the best weather for having the roof fixed.Hope he still comes tomorrow.Time to brave the elements and take Heidi out for a walk, she will change colour with all the snow falling on her, good job she is not one of the dark German Shepherds.

No snow to report here have had a few flurries of it just nothing major but it’s bitterly cold out there with a very cold wind, I had to go get Easter eggs for my daughter as it’s now fast approaching.

    Lynne

I’m sure you will enjoy the hot cross bun when you can finally eat them, they are also very nice if toasted with nice butter spread on.

DF- hope you’re keeping warm if you’re out!
Lynne- counting the sleeps too, I’m hoping I can stick to the low carb until then! Glad you enjoyed your meal out! What is the Wrexham diet? Not heard of it either?
Dave- half a pound is better than a gain! You do seem to get odd weeks with this diet where nothing much moves, seemingly for no reason!
Jean- hope you’re getting packed okay! Rather you than me in this weather, even with heating! Do you go over to shower blocks or use one in your caravan?
Minols- hope you have a good family day today!
Tried a new recipe- ‘cloud bread’- not bread at all but okay, low cal & low carbs, used nigella seeds for flavour.

    Dave…
Better to loose, it’s going downwards…you can’t have big numbers all the time..well done.

Typhoo…glad the weathers holding…we keep getting lots of snow but not settling…in amber for two days…

    Hedgehog..
We are going to a small site just 5 caravans are allowed…using our own facilities this time, always have electric… this site it sounds lovely…running water to caravan and waste water to a drain just like home..abroad sites have this but not many in the UK and Wi Fi…..this time on a hard standing not grass better in winter…going to visit Lincoln you just get wrapped up, maybe Monday.
It’s strange it’s very relaxing, countryside, bird singing, black as night going to bed, sleep like a dream..only thing no bbq and wine in hand this time…lol

Must lookup cloud bread a new one to me….

I had my breakfast for lunch so that worked to plan today…😀

    Jean x

Dave- that veg curry recipe sounds nice! Will have to nose around the rest of the blog…
Jean- hope that you have a safe journey, get set up quickly & don’t get too cold. Hope your FD goes well too!
    Cloud bread recipe:https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cloud-bread
Kay- come back & say hi, let us know how you’re settling in!
Lynne, Minols, DF, Typhoo, Cakey, Pseudo, Penguin, tinker- sorry if I’ve missed anyone out- have a good day whatever you’re doing…
Jean- you might be on your own with the FD today, I’ve swapped mine about to use up a couple of low carb things I’ve got.

    Morning All…

We have had more snow over night and Lincolnshire seems worse than us according to the news..so we are cancelling going away, will speak to the camp site at 10 am give her chance of getting up..a bit disappointing but you have to be safe..

So we are continuing with our FD and throwing Tuesday in and usual Thursday.

    Hedgehog..
The cloud bread looks strange..is it tasty?

Keep safe everyone…hedgehog and Lynne I think are in Amber too…

    Have a good day all..

    Jean x

    Hello

Jean, glad you decided to postpone trip, I was worried about you travelling in these conditions. One minute it’s fine and then it’s blizzard like.

I’ve not heard of cloud bread Hedgehogs, I shall look it up. Hope you have a lovely Sunday.

Did you get your Easter eggs Typhoo? I couldn’t resist a lovely little wooden rabbit yesterday as an Easter themed decoration. I’m after some branches to hang little eggs on I think.

I have an hours grace this morning. Husband has gone off to church but I’m not there this morning. Spending a little time with my coffee to just recharge a bit.

    Weight stable, fasting tomorrow.

    Hello everyone else too

    CW

    Cakey Wakey..
Starting to thaw a bit now but very slushy..A1 where we were travelling had problems along a big stretch so could of been accidents…we have booked again for next Sunday…she is supposed to be a cheery lady but not today I think a few of us have cancelled.

Enjoy your quiet hour nice to have time to yourself…

    Jean x

The cloud bred looked good until I noticed it has cheese,so a no go for me.We have had snow and the wind cuts right through you, Heidi goes for the deepest snow whilst I try to avoid it.Not sure if I am going to the ice hockey, don’t like driving in snow, I was up until 3am this morning watching hockey.Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding tonight, drooling already,if Denise gets her knee done on Thursday I will be doing the roast next Sunday.

Jean- sorry that you had to cancel, but at least you’re flexible with when you can go. No more snow here, had more yesterday evening & it got pretty icy, glad it was hubby’s turn to pick youngest up from work!
The cloud bread was yummy, not exactly like bread though, a sort of soufflé/ omelette texture- needs some flavouring, so very good with the nigella seeds, I love them! Will definitely have them again! Very low cal- Steve could have them on a FD!
Dave- can you not eat cheese, or not like it? You can’t really taste it in them… Enjoy your roast tonight 🙂
Cakey- glad you’re back, I’ll be fasting tomorrow too. I love doing decorations for Easter, first saw branches / tree with Easter decorations when our Dutch friends did it years ago, so have copied them since!
Found an interesting suggestion as a milk replacement for in coffee today (milk actually works out quite high in carbs for the amount you use, even though low calorie) – coconut oil, whizz it in a blender with the coffee until it goes frothy. It was surprisingly good, & it didn’t miss sugar- I’ve not had coffee in ages because I didn’t think I could drink it without sugar, but obviously my taste is changing… Not that anyone here would need to worry about the carb content, it’s more calories counting with 5:2…
Trying some low carb fritters tonight with feta cheese & spinach, another new recipe… Having to do a roast dinner for 4.30 tonight to fit in with eldest’s working & going out?!!

    Hi Guys…

We have been out to an outlet and found some walking shoes for Steve and he got a couple of shirts as he has thrown some old shirts out…going down the tidy us up mode..😂

Although thawing it is so very cold..glad we have rebooked for next Sunday temperature is more like 10 degrees then..I don’t mind cold…but there’s cold and very cold…lol

Dave roast beef and Yorkshire pudd sounds very delicious especially on a FD for us…glad there’s a date set for Denise hoping it goes ahead this time…poor Heidi walking in this weather and you too…

Hedgehog I have never done decorations for Easter but I know they do abroad..I always think it’s a lovely idea…were do you fit in with the eating of treats off the branches ?…lol

Feeling chilly and heating is at 21 degrees, banging away, must be dropping of temperature outside, put it up another notch I think…
Steve was being naughty asking for haddock and chips in York today and fasting tomorrow….I held fast…as fasting Tuesday too….maybe a Friday treat as we have to take the car to have a job re done as I wasn’t happy it’s near the restaurant ..

Good FD for us…just had a ham, tomato, onion, omelette with a smattering of cheese with small salad ..really enjoyed it……it hit the spot..

    Have a good evening..

At the ice hockey, losing to Nottingham after the first period.I don’t like cheese at all, Heidi loved the snow she heads for the deepest snow, she even lies down in it. I start getting hungry after the second period and usually get home for around 9-30 pm.

Jean- well done for keeping strong & keeping Steve on track!
Now the boys are older I don’t put the little eggs on the tree- sometimes blown painted eggs, I get those little fluffy chicks & put cotton on them to hang, sometimes little pics cut out from Easter cards, not elegant, that’s not me!! Actually, I might pop in to our nearest town, the shops there always do lovely Easter displays & I could just buy some new bits, while hubby’s still on jury service…hehe!
Dave- glad that Heidi loves the snow, enjoy it with her! Josie always loved it, she loved us throwing snowballs up for her to catch, & really loved ice too- she’d scratch at puddles, pull chunks up & eat them!
The courgette fritters I made for dinner were lovely, managed to burn the spinach I was wilting though!! In fact having to get dinner ready threw me out completely, I thought it looked pretty shoddy (boys favourite polite word!), although they all enjoyed it, with no complaints… think I definitely have the dementia gene…
FD for me tomorrow- may have omelette again.

Hedgehogs – your Easter tree sounds lovely. We used to walk past a house on the way to town and they always had decorations for whatever part of the year and I always loved them. I noticed John Lewis has some absolutely gorgeous Easter decorations and ornaments and I’m so tempted. I bought an autumn wreath for the door which I put up between when the clocks change and my Christmas wreath, its lovely too.

I lookedup cloud bread and liked the sound of it very much. No chance to cook until next weekend though as off on more travels this week.

I’m also interested in the coconut oil in coffee. I’ve read so many articles, all saying it’s delicious. I need to try it but can’t get my head around it. Probably because I buy pure coconut oil for my skin and use it in the bath and as a moisturiser.

Hoping for a good fast tomorrow, longing to feel that’s lean feeling at the end of a fast.

    Evening All!

Sounds like you’ve all been busy over the weekend. Mines been relaxed with both my boys being away so just me and the OH.

Hedgehogs, Jean & Lynne… all ready for Monday. Will weigh first thing and try and stick to the 500. I am still going to do my run as due to the snow I’ve not been able to get out and I can’t see anywhere that says I shouldn’t.

CW…I have a friend who uses pure coconut oil and she says it’s vile! We had a discussion about it after seeing a documentary about it’s health benefits. The tip she gives is to whisk it up so it goes frothy and drink it really quickly. Obviously it’s down to personal taste but I would be interested in what you think if you try it.

Stay safe even if you have no snow.

    Annette x

Morning all! Why do I keep waking so early on a FD, makes it an even longer day!!
Cakey & Annette- you definitely have to whisk the coconut oil, yes, or you just have an oils slick on top… not tasty.
Annette- hope your FD goes well, & the run, rather you than me, only ice about, no ice cream van!! Measure yourself as well as weigh, sometimes the scales don’t tell all…
Cakey- the wreath sounds a nice idea too. The cloud bread recipe made 8, I had 2 at a time, haven’t found out how to keep them best yet, whether you can freeze them etc., they were quite poopy the next day, so I’ll halve recipe next time. Hope you resist temptation on your travels…
I’m reconsidering doing ADF, while I give the low carb a go, it’s a bit difficult doing everything & wanting to try new recipes, seems to be upping the fat a lot is needed (shame!), which is obviously difficult when fasting every other day! From reading up on the Keto a lot of people seem to do fasting as well, either IF or longer fasts, so both seem to be a WOL for people. I would love to beat the carb cravings…
Have a good day everyone! Lynne- are you fasting as well, & dodging the plumber?

    👋👋👋 Helloooo!!!

All settled in new house and so far so good.

Had a sneaky look at the scales on Friday and I think my weight is pretty much the same as it was. Must have been all the running around and being busy!

Need to find my fasting head and get back into the routine and healthiness of 5:2

We have also decided to start running again, depending on how Neil’s ankle copes with and I’m going to get out on my bike. However we are a bit snow bound at the moment!!

I’m not going to attempt to read back over a weeks worth of posts from everyone but just hope everyone is ok and still here. And hi to any newcomers.

    Kay x

Morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend! So much snow where I was yesterday, but we still managed to make it to the VW meet! Didn’t stay too long though, was freezing!

FD for me today, and just spent an hour walking before heading into the office. Must be mad 😛 Feel better now I’m inside that I did it though. Will walk at lunch too weather permitting.

Have a good day, Monday again and fresh starts 🙂
