  • I’ve read the book and the effects of fasting on insulin and IGF-1 are noted. Have any of the studies looked at how it effects other hormones I.E. testosterone & other sex hormones, leptin, gherlin and cortisol?

    Good question diverdog,

following to see if anyone replies

The below paper is an interesting review of fasting and fertility…although it doesn’t mention specific hormones. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378512214002680

John “Kiefer” Kiefer (he goes by just his family name), has compiled a lot of published primary research on the endocrine system and diet into a fairly comprehensible theory as to how this plays out. However, he’s not a qualified health science researcher, and he doesn’t have the resources to produce the relevant primary data himself to actually test his theories. So, I think you have to take it for what it is, but he does provided all of his sources. If you are interested, you might try Googling “Carb Nite Solution” and/or “Carb Backloading”. Kiefer doesn’t do much on IF per se, but there’s a lot of overlap between IF, TRF and ketogenic diets.
