I’ve read the book and the effects of fasting on insulin and IGF-1 are noted. Have any of the studies looked at how it effects other hormones I.E. testosterone & other sex hormones, leptin, gherlin and cortisol?

The below paper is an interesting review of fasting and fertility…although it doesn’t mention specific hormones. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378512214002680
John “Kiefer” Kiefer (he goes by just his family name), has compiled a lot of published primary research on the endocrine system and diet into a fairly comprehensible theory as to how this plays out. However, he’s not a qualified health science researcher, and he doesn’t have the resources to produce the relevant primary data himself to actually test his theories. So, I think you have to take it for what it is, but he does provided all of his sources. If you are interested, you might try Googling “Carb Nite Solution” and/or “Carb Backloading”. Kiefer doesn’t do much on IF per se, but there’s a lot of overlap between IF, TRF and ketogenic diets.
