  • Hi everyone,
I posted this earlier today in the exercise and diet forum but have had no replies.
Maybe it will reach more people here. Forgive me for duplicating my post.
I’ve just joined. A crucial question for me is:
On a fast day am I allowed to add my exercise calories to my total calorie allowance of 500?
Like, if I tally up 200 cals on a short run can I then eat 700 cals instead of 500?
If not, why not? Is there a secret to the 500? 🙂
    Thanks
    Cari

    Hi Cari,

No. Fast day calories are calculated as a quarter of your TDEE. Your TDEE is calculated using a number of factors, including your activity level. So your exercise calories are already accounted for I’m afraid.

Whether your aim is to lose weight or fast for other health benefits, you would achieve better results from more calorie restriction and not less in any case!

My understanding is that the 500 is roughly quarter TDEE for an ‘average’ woman with TDEE 2000. If you are not average then you would need to adjust fast day calories accordingly.

    Thanks HappyNow
    🙂
