About to head to bed. I blew today’s NFD, despite knowing better. The snow has melted and a stressful week lies ahead at work. No matter. Tomorrow begins the cycle again, with a new FD and better attitude on NFDs. See you then!

@northgeorgia I am right with you, on all fronts – blew today’s NFD too. tomorrow I begin again. FD

    Day 8 Melb Aust FD800

Did okay over the past few days and am 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) down since starting last week, yay!

@basyjames, I know nothing about the Superbowl, but did see something on our TV about the “BradyBunch”, so gathered he had another successful game; hope that has pleased you.

No time for more, but pleased with progress so far this month.

Let’s keep on the downward trail everyone.

    Day 8 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Really enjoyed my weekend. We watched the gala awards event on Saturday night in our camper van…with the blinds down it really felt like we were somewhere else, and not just on the front drive 😀 We decided to stay the night and I felt so refreshed and rejuvenated yesterday, as if I had actually been away on a mini break ☺️

Watched the Wales v Ireland match….oh dear is all I can say.

I did not sneak off to get my hair cut, I decided that as we will definitely have Dad up next weekend I need to limit my contacts…..I can get it cut in another few weeks, it’s long enough anyway.

Warning of bitterly cold weather and snow accumulations this week. Ireland just can’t handle snow so it will be interesting to see how it goes. Great thing though is that if its bad I can always WFH…..I have to go to the office due to the nature of my job, but if push comes to shove I can actually set up at home. Living in rural Ireland means that snow will lie.

FD today. Have a good one everyone.

Day 8 – Lake District UK – FD

    Good morning everyone

@northerndawn – It’s amazing when you realise just how much you’ve lost and compare it to something around the same weight. I took a delivery of grain last week, it comes in 25 kg /56 lb sacks. Its difficult to imagine carrying that round all the time, it is a good reminder.

@daffodil2010 – The Wales v Ireland game was a cracker, unfortunately Peter O’Mahony gave the ref no other option but to send him off, the rules re head contact have quite rightly been tightened up. However Ireland put in a magnificent shift, both side were there to play rugby. The last 10 minutes were edge of the seat stuff, brilliant.

Funny how different sports mean so much to different people. I believe the Superbowl is a big day out, BBQ’s and families meeting up before and after the game. I’ve a mate who is glued to every ball bowled, even the 5 day tests, bit too long and slow for me. As for football, never appealed to me, but I went to a rugby playing school, so naturally carried on playing for years!

Going to be a FD today, I always have a beer or two watching the rugby on TV, plus we made our own sausage rolls to go with the beers. We like to flavour ours, 2 x curry, 2 x chorizo, 2 x Onion Marmalade 2 x Sage and onion, our naughty treat.

    Take care all

    Day 8 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

Thank you for the happy birthday wishes, I have enjoyed a lovely weekend celebrating at the Bear bar/bistro/restaurant. DH and I just did our regular ‘lockdown’ walks from our village but we had some different meals at home, new flavours and ample wine. My birthday night was spent playing a drunken fun game of Scrabble. The pandemic has certainly taught me the value of simple pleasures.

Its a beautiful bright sunny morning in Pembrokeshire but snow is forecast. I haven’t seen any significant snow since we moved here 5 years ago so it will be quite a novelty if it arrives. Crossing my fingers we don’t get much as my 84 year old dad has an appointment for his vaccine tomorrow, don’t want him slipping and falling en route.

@northerndawn thanks for mentioning the 20 pounds of fat, its a good reminder of how carrying extra weight makes me feel.

I need to get settled on the wagon and back into my 5:2 routine to repair the damage of the weekend. Joining the Monday pocket list for motivation.

    Day 8 – UK – TDEE

Really pleased that I managed a controlled weekend with TDEE days – first one for ages – must have something to do with the lack of alcohol…….

Enjoyed both the cricket and rugby over the weekend and still watching the Eng v India Test match as I type on here

Managed a good 7.5km walk yesterday on what turned out to be a grey, wintery and blustery, cold day where it was trying very hard to snow but nothing much happened.

Cooked another of Calum Franklin recipes yesterday – a Moroccan spiced beetroot and squash wellington served with minted yogurt and on the side we had some mixed green beans and broccolini tossed in French grain mustard – his cook book has been a good buy!

Started today with a 7am zoom Broga class with OH joining me on the mat then baked him a batch of scones – now enjoying a cup of tea whilst I catch up on here. Friends down south have had lots of snow by the looks of their photos – only a light dusting in my village and now intermittent sunshine and blue skies but jolly cold outside! Might rug up and venture out for brisk walk a bit later….

@basyjames – good to hear that you are recovering from the side effects of your vaccine – you are lucky to have received both shots – still patiently waiting here….
@daffodil2010 – thought of you and my Irish friend during the Rugby yesterday – Ireland did well with one man down and came close but it was a deserved RED card

Good luck to all Fab Fasters today – I’m hoping for another good TDEE day and then a FD500 tomorrow

I am reminding myself this month that “If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I was desperately wishing to be where I am now”

    Day 8 – Canada – FD

    Good morning everyone.

Woke up to what looks like about 20 cms of beautiful fluffy snow. Everything looks so fresh and clean. My neighbour has been out with his snowblower since 6:30 am, I guess that’s my cue to find my shovel. 🙂 Today will be a busy fast day.

@at – I love hearing about your inventive meals.

    Day 8, London, UK, CD

I’m aiming for a controlled day today having scuppered yesterdays’ plan! It wasn’t a disaster, but I definitely overate! I doubt I stayed below TDEE I need to build my OMAD muscle since I know any early eating can result in overeating!

It’s bloomin’ freezing here and still snowing lightly. I went for an early walk a little bit of slipping & sliding but it was invigorating!

I hope everyone is recovering from the indulgences of the weekend, I doubt any sports fans here (or anywhwere!!) celebrated with cucumber slices & water!!!

    Keep the faith people!!!

    Day 8 – USA/GA – FD

OK, confession time. Weigh-in: 231 lbs. I’ve undone the progress of a month’s effort in a single weekend by feeding the stress monster. There is hope, though. Though the weight skyrocketed by nearly four pounds from last Thursday morning to today, I have lost 1/4 inch off my waistline, so got to keep the faith that things are moving in the right direction if I can stop the sabotage.

    1. Got to keep myself busy with something other than snacking and eating “large” on NFDs. 2. Got to remember that a second helping of everything isn’t as nice to have as another pound drop. 3. Got to remember to indulge a craving on NFDs when it makes sense (one cookie right now might make me stop eating the whole box later) 4. Need to really be careful during the weekday NFDs (weekends are harder to tame in all honesty).

    Day 8. USA/DC FD (500-600)
Good morning all. We had our “big snow storm) and now it is all gone. It’s funny how panicked people get about snow here. I am a New Englander and snow to me is measured in double digits, not single. But it is quite mild out today.
Yesterday was a nothing day honestly. I didn’t journal food and felt rather yuck by the time I went to bed. I need to recognize that I simply cannot rely on my mouth to guide my eating. I may not always have to count calories, but I definitely need to write it all down. Thank you MFP
@at – I love your quote and am going to keep that in mind. It is really spot on.
@northgeorgia – don’t be too hard on yourself. It will come right back off. Just refocus and it will be gone. My guess is at least half is water. When I go back to eating as I did before the January challenge, I end up holding so much water – I think carbs must essentially be sponges.
Good luck this week all. It’s already Day 8!!!

    Day 8 USA (Illinois) FD

Better do a FD today so adding myself to the list. Also will add Nellen. Off to Silver Sneakers in a moment, then ordering a birthday cake for DH. Praying we don’t have to eat too many leftovers from where he’s “celebrating” with the tennis group.

@northgeorgia I believe @nellen is spot on to say carbs are like sponges! A good deal of your added weight is water, so drink plenty of pure water, tea, coffee, and maybe focus on low carb for this week….ditch the sugars for a few days if possible. You will get back into the 20’s, and also reduce those cravings that are leading you astray.

With such a long list, it gets hard to copy and paste!! LOL. Yesterday, I spent the day with. my little grandson. We always have so much fun and he definitely gives me a lot of exercise! 🙂

I haven’t done any real exercise since the March shutdown, so I have re commenced today. I think I will do it twice a week, along with my regular walks. I have a treadmill and a rowing machine in case I can’t get outside due to weather. I have added more oils to my cooking in the hope that my skin will become less dry. I have never had such dry skin before. Maybe it’s being inside so much that is the cause but creams don’t seem to be helping. One of the things I plan to do once I have a chance to get my Covid vaccine is to go back to my facialist once a month. She is always so helpful!

I never know quite what to say because I hope you are having a great day when many of you have already gone to bed is funny! But I do hope everyone did!

    Day 8 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD500

I not only ate too much yesterday–no surprise there, LOL–but then got a stomach complaint that had me sitting on the loo on and off for almost three hours. (There, that’s either a delicate way of saying it, or way TMI!) So I don’t feel grand at all today, but am celebrating that as making it easier to stick to my FD, LOL! And the team I was rooting for yesterday won, so I’m smiling today regardless of how I feel. 😁

@northerndawn that’s quite a visual image you have there! I can well understand how that might get your attention! And the baked wings came out wonderfully crisp! They were a bit overcooked, but that’s a detail I can work on, and plan to. They’re from 101Cooking for Two; look them up!

@basyjames So glad you’re feeling better!

@daffodil2010 How fun that you “camped out” in your driveway! So glad it was a refresher for you!

@i-hate-lettuce Your sausage rolls sound a treat!

@flourbaby I burst out laughing at your “I doubt any sports fans here (or anywhwere!!) celebrated with cucumber slices & water!!!” Do my cucumber slices rolled up with smoked salmon, dill, and cream cheese, and two big glasses of ice water following three glass of wine count???? 🤣😂🤣😂

@northgeorgia I hear you. No words of wisdom, just an assurance that your experience is everyone’s experience. You’ve done great in the past; you’ll figure out how to do great again, I’m certain!

@songbirdme Happy birthday to your DH!

When we were driving home last night after the game, it was so strange to look in front of the car and see snow coming down, and look out my passenger window and see stars in the sky! Strange, strange, strange. We’ve gotten more than 6 inches of snow in the last couple days, and the overnight temperatures got down to -11F/-24C. Right now it’s a balmy 1F/-17C with blue skies and bright sunshine. These temperatures are going to stick around for more than a week, and will certain help us appreciate the pioneers who coped with this without benefit of wonderful insulation, electricity, and furnaces!

Have a grand day, everyone, whether that’s yet on Monday, or when you read this Tuesday!

    Day 8 UK CD

Not too bad a day! Fasted till dinner then chicken, small amount rice then almost blew it with white chocolate Magnum ice cream! But that’s it for the day so reasonable I think!

    Day 9, QLD/AUS FD 800

I’m with you @northgeorgia in watching myself sabotage some hard won gains due to work stress, but I’ve had a good few days and am looking forward to the scales moving the right way again. We can recommit and push on!

It is clear to me that I have just been eating far too much, and the wrong things, for a long time – our basic diet is really healthy, so I hadn’t noticed how much junk we were snacking through in between. I’ve been aware I need to fix my diet for some time, because I was feeling sort of mildly bilious and low energy a lot, but stress eating so many carbs last week has really brought home how sluggish and just yuck that makes me feel. Agree with @nellen that carbs are like sponges!

I was feeling great a few weeks ago, much lighter and more clear headed, and looking forward to recovering that this week. A week of soups and salads and good workouts should get me back there, and then the actual weight loss can resume. This is hard work!

    USA. Day 8. FD800

Had a successful FD800 today coming in at 733 calories. It’s amazing how much you can eat when you are carefully measuring everything and choosing healthy foods. I am not at all hungry. I had a very healthy sandwich made with one slice of Swiss cheese, a slice of tomato, a slice of avocado, wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. That’s called a California style sandwich. It really does work! See you all tomorrow!

@stitchincarol – sure do hope you have no lasting problems from your tummy troubles. Ugh! Sounds like NO FUN at all. I just saw that my ILLINI have a game at Nebraska Friday night. No bets this time… our team is ranked #6 in the nation. They are really fun to watch when they are playing well.

We’re stuck under the same cold that has gripped much of the USA, dangerous at times. Take care everyone.

    Day 9. – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Blew yesterday’s FD with takeout yesterday evening, so back on again. I have made a simple tuna and black olive salad with rocket and spinach leaves. I may have it for lunch or dinner, depending on how I go.

I juiced up oranges, an apple, some lemons and carrots to get a zing of Vitamin C, and while it looms wonderfully colourful in the glass jug in the fridge, it feels a tad acidic and tingly on the tongue……I hope to God this isn’t another thing that I am sensitive to ☹️

Wee bit of snow out there, just a dusting , but enough for my cat Missie to stick one paw out and go “Nope”! ☺️

Still no weight loss. Getting tired of trying and nothing working. Oh well on we go.

    Day 9 France NFD

Bonjour. I’ve been absent the last few days but have been hanging on, just about. I weighed in on Friday, 1kg down! Very chuffed with that so over the weekend I kept my eating under control. We had a restaurant takeaway lunch on Saturday with friends and I was designated driver so just drank water. My meal was very disappointing so I ate very little ( 3 cornichons, a nice piece of chicken and a small coffee pannacotta). Also, I didn’t eat much on Sunday and we did a 10km walk. I had a sneaky weigh in on Monday to assess the NFD damage and was happy to see no weight gain.

This week, we have a big gardening project planned. We have another big natural hedge to cut and get rid of, including a few trees to coppice. We do a lot of it with small handsaws and then have to drag the wood out. The hedge is over 50m long so it’s not a quick project. Anyway, I find it impossible to do this type of work on 800 calories so I probably won’t be fasting on the days we work. I will try to stick to TDEE. However, I think my stomach must have shrunk because my capacity to eat big meals has gone.

@ I hate lettuce. I have been fantasising about your sausage rolls (oops, that sounds rude!). They sound so delicious.

I hope you all enjoy your snow. The north of France has snow forecast today but although cold here at the moment, snow is very rare further south near the Atlantic coast.

Good luck to all the fasters and I’ll join in again very soon.

Day 9 – Lake District UK – FD

    Good morning everyone

What a fabulous morning, it’s cold, but, no wind not a cloud in the sky. The colours on the trees with the sun being so low is fabulous, the fell tops are glowing. Going to be a decent walk this morning, might even take the camera!

@daffodil2010 – At least you’ve leapt back on the 5.2 bus, you know it works, it will also get easier when the weather turns come spring. We blew the FD yesterday, celebrating a success for our son, so I’ll come and sit with you today, front seats, enjoy the view and the company.

    Take care all

    Day 9 UK FD

Planning another FD today so see how that goes. Seems to be if I relax at all even if eating to my TDEE I just either don’t lose or gain. Must revisit that and maybe calculate the number down a bit!
More snow here again in Scotland today but here doesn’t look too bad. The ski areas have had their best snow in ages but are closed due to the restrictions. So disappointing. Would have been a great boost to their income.
Good luck to all fasters today! Onwards and downwards.

    Day 9 – UK – FD500

Managed another good TDEE day yesterday including a Broga Class and a 12.2km hike – feeling good atm as I have had a controlled February so far and hoping to carry on in the same way 🤞

Started today with a fab yoga class at 0830 working on mostly standing postures, working the legs – our inner central heating!

Really cold here but not snow and we have had intermittent sunshine but plenty of white clouds around.

@dvw – I love cooking and OH and I enjoy trying new recipes so always keen to experiment with new taste sensations
@nellen – glad my quote resonated with you too – it certainly has stood me in good stead over the years!
@stitchincarol – poor you – sounds like some sort of food poisoning – take care x
@litprof – it is so easy to stray and to underestimate what we are consuming – I have gone back to basics this month – FD500 x 2 and trying to eat to TDEE on NFD – using MFP every day and checking my portion sizes – trying to re-educate my eyes and brain on what my TDEE 1500cals looks like!!!!!
@clemmi – sounds like you are having a fab February so far too

    Day 9 – Canada – NFD

    Good morning everybody.

Today was weigh day and the scales say I’ve lost 1.4 lbs!! Woohoo. It’s not a lot but the closer I get to goal the slower it goes, sigh. I’m taking any win. Yesterday was a successful FD so maybe after a TDEE today the loss will disappear.

@daffodil2010 – hang in there, it’s slow but it’s works

    Take care all. DVW

    Day 9 – USA/GA – NFD

When I came home yesterday, I couldn’t decide which soup I wanted, so I didn’t. I created my own “instant” soup with 3/4 a can of cannellini beans in its liquid, half a can of drained mushrooms, a tablespoon of salsa, a couple pinches of fresh cilantro, a sprinkle of garlic powder and cumin. Yes, that hit the spot! Now I’m going to have to go to Aldi this weekend for a couple cans of cannellini haha

I love cooking fresh, but I love it too much — in other words, I think about taste instead of calories (and I sometimes forget what I all I put into it!)

Anyway, I’m happy with today’s 228 lb. weigh-in, which is about 1 lb. more than what I weighed in this time last week, but if I can refocus over the weekend and eat sensibly like @clemmi did, I think my body would appreciate it. Yes, @litprof, let’s just gather ourselves together and push on. Work continues to be a stressful beast, but thankfully we are interviewing for someone in accounting tomorrow. @northerndawn and @nellen, I think you’re right. I was craving carbs all weekend and finally relented and made spaghetti Sunday night. The fact I felt like I “relented” means I probably gobbled a lot more carbs than I would have had I had just made the dang spaghetti and ate a small portion a few days earlier. If I cut out all sugar and carbs, I know me. Kaboom! Weekend overload! Probably exactly what happened. A sensible portion as I go along will likely balance out the cravings, but definitely going to focus more on vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats (discount avocado season is here!!)

Good luck to everyone on the pocket lists today.

Day 9 USA (Illinois) HBD to DH

Very good FD yesterday, poor sleep afterwards, but nothing unexpected. Having eggs for a good breakfast shortly. I got just a very small cake at the grocery for me and DH to split that won’t have any leftovers. Yeah for that.

@northgeorgia – your soup sounds most interesting! I give in every so often to pasta as well. Or pizza. 🙂

    Onward and downward.

    Day 9 UK NFD

As I’m going low carb for Feb I need to plan in advance and it’s very challenging but I’m going to give it a month -it is a short one after all ,so even with 3 meals I’m only on around 700 cals today , surely the scales will reward me ? That’s another new thing I’m playing with – getting weighed once a week . Onwards…..

    Day 9 Oxfordshire, UK – FD 800

Ate a bit more than planned yesterday because I was so cold. Still came in at under 800 cals, trying for FD800 today.

Had a very chilly dog walk this morning and looking forward to my Vinyasa yoga class later.

Scales are showing that any gain at the weekend is gone, so just aiming to be mindful.

    Day 9. USA/DC. NFD

Good morning all. Yesterday’s fast day ended up just under 700. Still lost weight and am back down in the 132 area. My goal weight has been 134 but have to say seeing 132 makes me pretty gleeful.

I am having a harder time with FDs at 500 though and am wondering if I should have my FDs be 600-650. They still seem to accomplish the desired result and I feel less wiped out. I exercise every day – strength or spin or yoga, sometimes both. I think my NF days are always within TDEE not accounting for exercise.
I would love some advice on maintenance and having FD a bit higher than 500.

I am staying clear of crackers – which are my absolute downfall. I am a carb lover, far more than sugar. But cards really do create so much weight gain/water gain for me. I think I really need to revisit my almost addiction to them. Perhaps say goodbye other than rare occasions.

@daffodil2010 – I would be careful of juicing several fruits as a snack, etc. juiced fruits, for me at least, equal a lot of calories and a lot of sugar that get my mouth craving more. I try to eat whole fruit – at least for me, it takes longer and is more satisfying and the skin of the apples provides fiber which is satisfying for me.

    Good luck today

We are supposed to get more snow. The DC area doesn’t know what hit it – as I said before 3-5 inches is essentially a blizzard and this will be our third in as many weeks.

Day 9 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

Yesterday’s FD went fine, with the tummy troubles disappearing slowly over the day–and then reappearing in the evening. So weird. This morning I feel fine, however, so whatever it was is gone, thankfully.

It’s a negative 16 degrees outside. That’s negative 27 C. It’s been a number of years since we’ve had such cold weather. It’s simple enough for us with homes and furnaces to stay warm, but I sure worry about the animals and the homeless people. It’s supposed to stay frigid for another week or more, but when it finally gets up to 30–still below freezing, remember–it will feel positively balmy, and we’ll all be likely to skip coats, LOL!

Now to go plan food for today and then walk with Leslie. Good luck with your goals for today!

I am trying to get back to some of my pre-pandemic habits. When the U.S. shut down last March, my exercise program shut down, too, except for taking walks. Right now, it is really too cold for walks, so I used my rowing machine. I love that machine. It makes my back feel so good!! :). I have a treadmill, too, but I prefer to walk outdoors, so I can see and talk to the neighbors. I call them my sanity walks. LOL. I am so happy to see how many of you are able to continue with your yoga. I love yoga but we can’t go to yoga studios up here, so it would have to be at home. I wish I can ride my bike but I have two flat tires and getting that fixed is not really possible right now. I wish I had fixed that before the lockdown.

Anyway, my FD800 are going well. I measure and log everything and my body seems to have adjusted to it. I am with you all you FD800ers! We can do this! My only problem was giving up my evening glass of wine but I looked into the matter of why my skin has become so dry this Winter and that has created enough of push to get me off the wine. I bought a new bathing suit on sale from Nordstrom’s, so I think I will have enough a bathing suit body to bring my grandson to the pool this Summer, depending on the pandemic. (We can only dream!)

For all you gardeners (looking at you Daffodil2010), I am already planing a vegetable garden for my little grandson and I to work on! The should be so much fun! 🙂

Hope I didn’t overpost today. Have a great 5:2 day today, everyone!

Day 9 North Canton OH WFD6

I missed a few days because I was under the weather after getting my second vaccine. I feel better now and I am going for a fast day today.

My stomach feels a little tender post vaccine, so the idea of giving it a rest from food feels really good

The cold weather just adds an additional layer of stress eating I think

@daffodil2010 do not give up, your system will eventually give in to all the good changes that you are making. The inflammatory response may be causing water retention, have you tried keeping track of inches?

    @dvw congrats on the loss

@northgeorgia that soup combo sounds delicious. I agree excessive denial usually leads to epic face plants in the objects of my denial. A little usually goes a long way when the craving is just beginning

@nellen if 600 works for you then go for it, that is the beauty of this WOL – it is not one size fits all

Sorry about your tummy bug @stitchincarol, the cold weather seems to bring us so many gifts in the form of viruses and bugs

    Day 9, London, UK, NFD

Day 9 is almost done so we’re definitely through the 1st 3rd of February😱!! This short month has absolutely NO wriggle room😜!!!

Usually (You may recall me mentioning it once or twice in the past😉!!) I countdown to my summer holiday of sun, sea, fabulous food & vast amounts of vino!! Since last year was a wipe-out (I couldn’t even gloat!)😁, and this year looks the same😭. I’m looking forward to my birthday in a couple of weeks as though I was turning 21 again, which of course, I will!!! Don’t even think of asking!!! Anyway the countdown begins but I just can’t seem to muster the feelings from last year when I jetted off to Spain for an All -Inclusive birthday spa weekend (Oh, the vino!!) when Covid was ‘something over there’, we were on the cusp of lockdown and (nearly) all was right with the world; I didn’t even know where to buy hand sanitizer or buy a face mask and actually hugged numerous people, I didn’t really want to, but would do eagerly, if I could, right now!!! Forgive me, I’m venting😤!!

There’s been a bit of exercise today, an early walk in the snow, a Zoom Pilates class that had my core begging for mercy😭 then my new bathroom was delivered ‘kerbside’, so my brother & I had to lug the entire thing to the front door then upstairs …………………………… ‘Delivery’ has a new meaning, we’re in trouble if it starts applying on the maternity ward😱!!! 🙏

Todays’ menu will be under 1000cals ( @brightonbelle – low carb can yield bucket loads of calories!! 😂) but OMAD went out the window with an entire tub of marinated anchovies with peppers & olives …………………….. a fabulously filling lunch for <300cals, just 2hrs early!!

@nellen …………….. “I am staying clear of crackers – which are my absolute downfall. I am a carb lover” …………………………. as they say across the pond somewhere, you’re preaching to the choir sister!

Tomorrow will be a FD although I have a hankering for a cheese omelette (Those who know me know I’ve NEVER uttered those words before!! 😕) I suppose I could move todays chicken stir fry to tomorrow & exchange Zero-noodles for noodles and have a decadent cheese omelette today??? Uurgh, my brain hurts, I like a plan with ZERO deviations!!!! Again, forgive me, this time I’m just prattling😁!!

Onward & downwards folks, I look forward to some hand holding🙏 on the lists tomorrow😍!!!!

“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” – Albert Einstein

    Second post

I’m reading a novel and the wise old Chinese woman just said this to the troubled main character: “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”

Beyond the application in the context of the novel, I immediately thought of all of us. Personally, I keep behaving in the way that brought on the weight I have now, but if I let go of that behavior, I can become the thin woman I might be–and that I’ve been in the past. When I let go of the bad habits, the bad assumptions (“I’ve already eaten too many calories today, so might as well have even more” and “I’m so overweight I can never be the kind of person who gets and stays thin” and any other thoughts that race their little insidious way through our brains), the bad self-talk, etc., etc., etc….THEN the good in me rises to take its place.

Notice it took me an 8-line paragraph to say what is contained in that little 14-word sentence. I like it.

    @stitchincarol. Thank you.

    Day 9 Minnesota, USA NFD

@songbirdme Happy Birthday to your DH, and have a nice evening celebrating together!

@stitchincarol Thanks for the suggestion of the 101 Cooking for Two. There are some good recipes there! And I’m happy to hear your stomach is settling down.

@basyjames Glad to hear you are feeling better!

@i-hate-lettuce I can’t even imagine what 56 pounds of chunky beef fat would look like, let alone trying to carry it around! And your positive post today lifted my spirits!

@ccco You will have such fun with your little grandson this summer! My grandchildren are growing so fast…..the oldest just turned 18 today! She’s a beautiful person in every way, and I am very proud of her; But I do miss the little 2 year old version of her sometimes. My youngest is 4 and 1/2, so I plan to enjoy every moment of time I can spend with her sweet, little self!

    Stay mindful and resolved, everyone!

    Day 10 QLD/AUS FD 800

I’m kicking us off into day 10 as many of you are wrapping up day 9!

Yesterday was a good FD800 day, but busy so no exercise. Scales are down 0.5k today, with time for exercise and another FD800 ahead today, so hoping to be properly back on track by the end of this week.

One thing I have noticed is that I use my time and eat much much better if I plan it all in advance. Then I don’t have to think about anything or make choices on the spur of the moment, I just follow the plan. I have also noticed that my body doesn’t actually run all that well on a carb-heavy diet; after a few days of soups/salads and general light eating I feel so much more clear-headed and less lethargic.

I am really invested in making long-term changes to my nutrition and overall health, so this WOE is not just about weight-loss for me – although the 3-4k keeping me out of my skinny jeans need to go!

    Day 10 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD800

Morning. Still waiting on this mega snow event that the weather guys have been talking about, but apart from being cold, it’s not even sub zero and just a dusting of snow. No clear blue skies like you had yesterday @i-hate-lettuce, but I enjoyed the front row seat of the wagon, thank you for the view ☺️

Going for an FD800, keeping my foods low GI from now on, trying to break this constant plateau and astonishing realisation of food intolerances by changing to foods that were supposed to help my menopause symptoms 😨

@nellen, I agree with you, I always enjoyed the occasional orange and apple, and was never much for juicing, but I started on this course to help with menopause and one of the recommendations was to get more Vitamin C and juice up the citrus. As I discovered yesterday, just one small glass was way to much and I felt some kind of reaction. It was the same with my recent avacado and celery etc latex fruit syndrome.

So it’s back to eating the full fruit, forget the juicing, juicer can go back in the cupboard where it’s been hiding for the past 10 years 😳

Have a happy hump day everyone 🐫

Day 10 – Lake District UK – NFD

Great FD yesterday to make up for messing up Mondays. We went for a nice long walk, Mrs I-H-L thoroughly enjoyed getting her steps in early. The views across the estuary to the Cartmel Fells were really good with a light dusting of snow on them.

@ccco – Vegetable growing with Grandson – great fun, children love growing veg, ours were involved on the veg patch from a very early age. Our daughter took over the strawberry bed when she was very young, had four varieties which went right through summer. She nurtured it right up to leaving home and going to University. Was funny when she came home for holidays, wasn’t long before she was out tending her patch.

@litprof – Glad you can feel the difference, as important as anything the scales say!

    Take care all

    Day 10 – Ireland – NFD
    Day 9 – first FD in a while 👍

    Hi everybody,
Its great to be back again amongst you all…
Thanks so much for all your kind messages and welcomes back ❤️. We are terribly sad but we feel such relief that Dad had a peaceful and swift exit during a time when Covid restrictions were relaxed a little. He would gage hated hanging around for too long once he knew he was ill and he knew himself that his body was playing up… he had subtly organised quite a lot before his death ♥️. There was no big funeral though which was very sad as dad was so well known and well regarded but… it made things easier for mum to understand and deal with, having only very close family there..

@brightonbelle thats so weird and wonderful that I figured in your dream just before I came back into the fold 🥰.
Yes @flourbaby! I’m still getting out there as much as I can as it’s really the only thing to do here.. so walking lots and cycling solo mainly with some very very long spins in my 5km zone . I love it though and it is still my mindful place ♥️.

I’ve started paddling in the sea on my walks in the morning before work and that wakes me up.. not quite winter swimming but it works to ground me…

I am struggling at the moment with focus working from home so I am really having to apply myself when it comes to work, reading and even posting but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things.. I’ll have to get back into the habit of regular posting!👍

I had a great first FD yesterday. Thanks again for the kindness everyone!

    Day 10 – UK – TDEE

A great FD500 yesterday followed by a good night’s sleep!

I have surprised myself with being able to stay in a good headspace so far into this February challenge – I knew I had a special meal delivery with 🥂 planned for the 14th so that was a good incentive to stay in control and try to drop a couple of kgs before – then back on that control wagon 🤞 until the next planned special meal delivery on the 26th!!!

Started today with a cup of tea and a strength yoga class at 1000hrs

Followed by a brunch of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, 1 slice of sourdough bread and another cup of tea (total of under 500cals so far) leaving me 1000cals for the rest of the day

Blue skies and sunshine outside after an early dusting of snow so planning of heading out in the next 1/2hr or so for a hike – temperatures staying around 1-2 degrees Celsius but the sun is shining ☀️☀️

Today, I need to get some work done and take my mum to the Drs. (so glad she’s had her 1st jab) the deadline is a bit stressful, so NFD it is, I can’t battle multiple dragons today.

    Stay strong everyone!!!

    Day 10 Oxfordshire, UK – FD 800

FD800 seem to suit me at the moment, especially with the cold weather. I also don’t go to bed with too much of an empty stomach which helps my sleep. Yesterday was good, so will try another today.

I’ve spent the morning on a needle felting workshop which has kept my mind away from food. As I missed the dog walk with DH I’ll have a walk this afternoon to get in my much needed steps with vinyasa yoga later.
Weather is lovely at the moment. Clear blue skies, no snow but very cold.

    @stitchincarol – wise words 🙂
@jaifaim – Well done on getting a FD under your belt. I think the first one after a break is always the hardest, yet the most welcome. Often I find it’s what my body really craves.

    Day 10 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD500

Yesterday’s NFD was a bit excessive, but not dramatically so. The scales are still not budging from the same 2-3 pound range depending on whether I just fasted or feasted. I find that frustrating, but to comfort myself, I point out that one year ago, I weighed 15 pounds more than I do now, and at least I’m not gaining back any of that weight. For now, I’m choosing to be patient and to continue the course.

My sewing machine has been having a spa day, but it’s ready to pick up. DH got a new black suit, so if the alterations are done, we’ll drive to Lincoln to get both at once; if not, I’ll wait on my machine until his suit is ready. Nothing more exciting than that is going on my neck of the world!
