  • Hi, hope you can give some insight to a first-week’er! My native language is not English, but I will try to make myself clear. 😉
I understand the pattern to be like this: Eat within 8 hours on the two fast days. Both prior to and after fast day I should not eat for 16 hours?

So 16 hours no food -> 8 hours eating window of 500 calories -> 16 hours no food -> Regular calorie intake -> 16 hours no food -> 8 hours 500 calories?

Bah… I get sick without breakfast, so by this scedule I have to stop eating at 16:00 a whole 4 afternoons a week. Does this seem correct to you?

    Liza 😀

If you look at the FAQ page, you can eat the 500 calories any way you wish.

Do the calories have to be in one meal or spread across the day?

There have been different studies using different approaches. People who took part in Dr Krista Varady’s studies of Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) had just one meal a day, at lunchtime. Those who took part in Dr Michelle Harvie’s studies of the 2 Day Diet at several small meals a day. Michael prefers having two meals a day, breakfast and an evening meal. Mimi prefers several small meals. Which approach is better? The one you can stick to. Some people find, for example, that eating breakfast actually makes them feel hungrier later in the morning.

So on your fast day you can have a small breakfast, small lunch and small dinner, so long as your days calories is 500 or under.

For me, I tried that mainly cos I have medication that’s supposed to be taken before breakfast. But I know from my specialist that I can take it at lunchtime, so on my fast days I have 150 cals for lunch around 1200h, and 350 for my dinner around 1900h.

    Thanks for your reply!
I must do a whole lot of reading here 😉
