    @ciren2 you must be so excited to be seeing your daughter! My kids are scattered around the world at the moment and we facetime alot, but nothing beats getting your hands back on them.

    I’ve definitely given up the scales for the time being, the ups and downs sabotage my goals. @flourbaby good for you for staying strong, gains often set me off on a “well I may as might as well eat everything” mindset!

    @snowflake56 visiting the maritimes and an east west drive across the country is on my list, it’s a trip that can take time so probably will not happen until I retire.

    @i-hate-lettuce the cold weather is a challenge for me as well. I have switched to veggie soup for lunch, it warms me up and is low in calories.

    USA Day 4 FD

    Another FD for me! Goodness! I weighed myself this morning and didn’t like what I saw! I am up 2 lbs. 2 ozs. I really have to stop drinking wine!! I stop for awhile and then one cold evening by the fire I decide I need a glass of wine but that isn’t working for weight loss! This week I need three good FDs and maybe those extra pounds will go away! The fasting went well yesterday but I did have that wine. What I need is a nice cup of tea! Basically, for me to lose weight, I can’t have any bad habits!! 🙁 Hopefully, that is not forever! I should also join those of us in measuring. I haven’t done that in awhile and I think it is worth my while, as well!

    Well, Emden, perhaps that dress could be a nice Christmastime dress!

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Oops! That was Snowflake56 with the dress! Sorry!

    Day 4: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    I’ve been so busy (at work) today I almost forgot to post here! Honestly, it was a nightmare day. Yet MORE election leaflets….same parties AGAIN! once more, addressed but not walk-sorted….so took an age to get into the frame in order…..on top of a massive (usual Wednesday plus Christmas) load of mail and parcels. It was nearly four by the time I got home….having not eaten since breakfast! My official finish time is 1.15pm….ha….ha!
    Day off tomorrow, and….yes the meet-up with DD, currently somewhere in the air between Singapore (stopover) and London. She managed to get an upgrade to business class on the first leg, but I guess is now back in “cattle-class” for the remainder. I worry about DVT, her driving on the M4 tomorrow with jet-lag, etc, etc….but you can’t tell them…
    She’s going to feel the cold, frosty weather, after Melbourne, that’s for sure. I’ve been to Tescos and bought her a woolly hat, gloves and scarf for tomorrow!

    @funshipfreddie: I know, I should keep an eye on the scales…..and yet, and yet… @snowflake56: you also make sense by weighing only once a month and relying on the fit of your clothes. I guess it’s OK if you feel in control of your eating.
    I don’t, really….that’s the trouble.
    I have certainly kept away from those nasty scales since they did the dirty on me the other day.

    Day 4, VA, USA, FD 4th day of B2B

    Made some both with peas and ate a lovely purple carrot. (The purple carrots are my favorite, they taste almost just a hint sweeter than the orange ones)

    During this 4 FDs I’ve really enjoyed carrots a lot. I need to go get another bag (hoping I don’t tire of them) I’ll look in the produce section and see if there is some other veggie I can easily eat raw and or enjoy with just a dash of healing up with garlic. Mmmm makes me want Brussels.

    (((You see that November month OH MY Goddess!)))
    Its ok tho b/c todays reading is -1 under the Nov 1st reading. Which I’ve been hovering the whole month of Nov at around 130ish.

    You see the Flux is real! As you whittle down the middle it can get a bit dicy toward goal/maintenance.

    @ciren2 – Thank you for hosting November, and oh my gosh that blasted battery. I started with an old style scale (I’ve had it 15 or so years) but my sweetheart inspired/suggested to me to get a new one – I have to say I love the new one and that it tells me my water% as well as a bunch of other things. AND records it all for me. It appeals to my lazy side.

    @snowflake56 – I find that beets do a great job for me when I hit a stubborn plateau.

    @at – thank you for hosting us this challenging month, I’m just shooting for maintaining not gaining.

    @ccco – yes very good FD yesterday had my broth last night with onions and celery in it (sounds boring, but really it was quite good)

    @yo-yo-fletch – awe so glad you communicated how you felt/feel. That is awesome that is so healing!

    @matpi & @funshipfreddie – ya know I’ve not had one either! (Best knock on wood soon) I was just at my in-laws and they have 5 kids and yes 2 of them were coughing their brains out. *but so far <looking over shoulder> I’m in the clear!

    @i-hate-lettuce – thats the spirit do an FD even when it is challenging!

    @flourbaby – get that water stat! I notice actually one of the MOST important times for me to drink water… before I sleep for the night. Also to note if you get up to pee then replace that water (I have a 18oz water canister beside my bed every night) I aim to drink at least 1/2 – 2/3 after I brush my teeth. And your veggie bake sounds delicious!

    Day 5, Aus, FD!!

    Hello all. The silly season hits big time tomorrow with two (yes, TWO) Christmas parties. Can one somehow create a double FD in just one day in anticipation?

    Day 4- Atlanta, Ga- USA- FD

    Day 4 Ohio, US — NFD

    One thing that may have been contributing to my not getting back “in the groove”, is that a new food that I started trying out on Sunday has something that I’m allergic to in it, and sugar cravings are often associated with my allergic responses. With any luck, cutting out that food and a FD tomorrow will set things to right.

    @daffodil2010 Hope you shake that cold lickety-split! I think maybe a FD can help deter the very beginnings of a cold, but if the cold goes full blown then it sounds like you have exactly the right approach to helping your body cope with it.

    @penz Good luck with your double Christmas parties. I suppose that running a marathon on a FD would count as a double FD, but not many of us could do that (certainly not me!).

    Pocket list for Thursday (Day 5) (I think I’ve got it started right. Please correct.)
    @matpi
    @penz
    @therealwil78

    Day 5: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    Today’s the day. Waiting to hear via Whatsapp that DD is safely in London. Her plane was due to land at 6.15am. The plan is we meet up for lunch today (I know…I know….but she is too busy to wait) near Reading.

    Day 5, Pocket List:

    @matpi
    @penz
    @therealwil78

    Day 5 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

    Two FDs done & dusted this week; maybe another one tomorrow or Saturday. I’m finally getting some wriggle room back.

    @rabbette – I’m a raw carrot fanatic too. I must get through 2 kilos a week! They’re especially good for FDs.

    @daffodil2010 – I hope you’re feeling better?! Sounds nasty; but it’ll be long gone before Christmas! 🤧

    @ciren2 – enjoy lunch with your DD, after a whole year! Very happy for you 🤗

    Have an easy one, today’s fasters! 🍏

    Day 5 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

    Felt really bad yesterday and by evening was face was swollen and red and raw from all the sniffling and snuffling…..I looked gorgeous 😆 I went to bed super early, had two windows very slightly open (although it was below zero) and that helped with my breathing as I slept fairly well.

    I feel I have clambered over the other side. Still pretty wretched and still smuffling and sneezing and eyes occasionally watering, BUT the sore throat is now mostly gone though in its place is a chesty cough……I feel OK to go back to work which is the main thing.

    I have my Christmas Party tomorrow night and I have my bag packed and ready to go however if I am not sufficiently recovered from this cold I won’t be going. No point wearing a fab number in a 5 star hotel party and sneezing and sniffling the night away.
    See how I feel tomorrow

    The reason for the caution is because 20 years ago I also came down with a very bad cold. But being the trooper I am I went to worke dry day and attended every party (and 20 years ago my social life was far more hectic) and no matter how wretched I felt I kept on. Then just as the new millennium started I got ringing in my ear, vertigo, then lost the hearing. When I got all the tests done the consultant told me that my ear is perfect, but an infection damaged the connections to my brain hence I will have tinnitus and hearing loss for ever!!!!!

    if I had taken more care of myself I might have better hearing today. Lesson learned !!

    As for the Jameson @flourbaby, I tried a hot toddy of that on Tuesday night with lemon and cloves. As I was all bunged up I couldn’t taste it though I am sure it was nice 👍

    @funshipfreddie thanks, this sure will be gone by Christmas 😄

    @ciren2 so excited for you!!

    Going to fast today. Pocket list day 5
    @penz
    @daffodil2010

    Day 5, Emden Germany, FD

    derailed on yesterday’s FD with tasting a Christmas cake I made last week. Only wanted to try a little slice but ate a quarter of the cake. So @ciren2 that’s how controlled my eating sometimes is. Today will be a better one, beetroot soup ready, cake in the freezer so all is fine.

    @rabbette I love beetroot, esp. the red ones.

    @ciren2 I hope your daughter had a safe flight. Enjoy your lunch!

    @betsylee I’m still so grateful for your hosting, without you I wouldn’t be in maintenance now. You encouraged me to go on.

    @ccco that’s a good idea, haven’t thought about what to wear at Christmas.

    @daffodil2010 we posted at the same time. Are you really going to work today? Please take care and go home if gets worse again.

    Joining today’s pocket list!

    Day 5, Pocket List:

    @matpi
    @penz
    @therealwil78
    @daffodil2010
    @snowflake56

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 5 – 2nd Post

    Interesting, after the discussion about BMI & waist measurements

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/weightloss/can-we-please-stop-talking-about-belly-fat/ar-BBXJUU9?li=BBnba9O

    Day 5 – Lake district UK – FD

    Yesterdays last minute decision to make it a FD took some keeping up to, did OK, but the long walk had to be foreshortened and stepped slightly over my normal FD limit of 600 calories.

    Weird, walking has just been a breeze recently, the niggling hip and knee hasn’t caused a problem for a while now (weight loss and extra activity must help) but yesterday, couldn’t get into my stride for some reason?

    However, feeling much more like it today so FD and ‘Man on a mission’ walking today.

    Day 5, Pocket List:

    @matpi
    @penz
    @therealwil78
    @daffodil2010
    @snowflake56
    @i-hate-lettuce

    Take care all

    Day 5, London, UK, FD,

    Another FD for me, banking as many as possible before the silly season really kicks in, I’m soooo looking forward to Xmas and equally, I’m soooo dreading Xmas!!!!!

    @songbird me, I had a chuckle at the image of your OH mumbling under his breath about ‘must do better today’ as he sucked down that eggnog milkshake!!!!

    @ccco, it’s not like we don’t know that wine is like pulling the handbrake on weight loss!!! I’m not sure why it becomes a habit used to deal with stress, to unwind at the end of the day, to accompany meals or just to drink for drinking’s sake!!!! I’m on my second litre of water this morning and the plan is to flush the fat, force a whoosh and generally slosh about as I walk!!!!

    @penz ………………. Uuhm ……………..Double FDs? ……………… No. You might just have to be mindful at one of the parties ……………. Yeah right!!!

    The booze, chocolates and hampers are stacking up in my office, thank goodness they frown upon wine drinking whilst working, or I’d be sunk ……………… or in fact; drunk!!!!

    @daffodil2010, I’m pretty sure the rule is to keep drinking it until you CAN taste it!!!! Maybe it’s just my rule!!!

    Dare I say I’m finding this round of the 30DS relatively easy? It’s perhaps a bit too soon since I’ll start level 2 tomorrow!!! My waist is shrinking though, as is the gluteus region ……………… it should do considering the number of squats!!!

    Anyway, I’m off to do what they pay me for!!!

    Happy fasting folks!! Stay STRONG!!!

    Day 3-5 – UK – NFD

    Firstly many apologies for my absence since Day 2………no fasting this week as yet but managed to keep my intake to TDEE or just below each day so far so not too bad

    Day 3 – DD stayed with us overnight after our evening out to see Les Miserables The Staged Concert as she had a review appointment with her GP in the morning……………..That afternoon we went for a fizzy afternoon tea – xmas present from last year that I had nearly forgotten about…….was lovely to catch up and chat about how she is feeling and what she can do to reduce her anxiety 🤗

    Day 4 – Much needed yoga class in the morning, coffee out with the girls afterwards. An afternoon of volunteering and an evening out seeing Kenneth Branagh’s award-winning production of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, which was initially broadcast in 2015 and stars Branagh, Judi Dench, Miranda Raison, Jessie Buckley, Jaygann Ayeh, Tom Bateman and Hadley Fraser tonight – reignited my love of Shakespeare……….

    Day 5 – my regular Thursday morning class combining cardio, Pilates, standing workout, great for bone density, co-ordination and balance! I have to admit coffee out again and this time including brunch as I have a hair cut and colour this afternoon and wanted to catch up here so no time to organise food at home……well that’s my excuse anyway

    Going to attempt to read all the posts I have missed out on and have a proper catchup……

    @yo-yo-fletch – your husband is a great one 👩‍❤️‍👨 lovely for you to have that support
    @emma-taylor – I can sympathise – I can no longer eat 3 meals a day as feel so uncomfortable – If I have a meal out these days I do OMAD
    @yogi51 – no one fails with this WOL – we just press a RESET button and do a FD on a different day – that’s the beauty of this WOL so don’t feel bad x
    @matpi @jaifaim @betsylee @therealwil78 – lovely to welcome you all back on board for this last challenge month for 2019
    @ciren2 – take heart and stick with us – you know you can do this x and so lovely to have your DD back in the UK for the festive season 👩‍❤️‍👩 Hopefully you are getting together for that lunch today xx
    @daffodil2010 – poor you 🤧hope you feel better in time for that Christmas Party tomorrow night 🤞
    @missybear – commiserations with the 🍷 drinking – I have been in the same boat lately as too much socialising – so must cut right back for the next week….but please do stick with us – it is at trying emotional times that we need our 5:2 family 🤗
    @mia139 – just keep thinking about that Perth sunshine early January to motivate you during this tempting month……
    @flourbaby – keep at it and don’t forget to drink that water……LOTS of it!!
    @rabbette – thank you for sharing your stats – so inspiring – just shows what can be achieved with perseverance and the support of our 5:2 family xx and December is definitely a month for maintaining not gaining and any loss is such a bonus!!!

    My go to food on fast days in winter is a big bowl of soup or porridge made with semi skimmed milk as a OMAD in the early evening – and I drink lots of water – cold or hot with lemon slices in it – keeps me warm and feeling full and by having my meal later in the day seems to help me to sleep well too……a big positive win all round

    And on the subject of scales – whatever works for you – personally I need that weekly weight check to stop me sliding away…….

    We have 32 signed in so far this month but have been missing our dear @bert1802 for a while now……..also missing are @dingping @dykask @fatrabbit @georgia83 and @greta – sorry if I have missed anyone out – if you are lurking in the background – do pop in to say hello and let us know how you are doing.

    A special call out to dear @coda – we would love to hear from you in this most challenging month of the year 🤗

    Last stanza from a poem by EDGAR A. GUEST
    “Success is failure turned inside out…
    And you can never tell how close you are
    It may be near when it seems so far.
    So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
    It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit”

    Day 5 – USA – NFD

    @daffodil2010, feel better! I also had infections galore in my 20s, 30s, 40s, and soldiered on, only to have resultant constant screaming tinnitus, occasional vertigo and hearing loss in one ear….@Ciren2, enjoy the visit with DD, I’m excited for you!

    Day 5 – Stratford Upon Avon, UK – FD

    @rabbette – WOW! amazing stats, thank you for sharing…..duly inspired!

    Day 5 USA (Illinois) NFD

    Hope to do okay on our DAFD (well, CD yesterday, pretty good – husband felt starved and neglected… go figure… men!) Stop at our new insurance agent sent me home with 2 lovely doughnuts leftover from their meeting for seniors. She would have sent me with a dozen if I had wanted. Nice indulgent treat with our eggs at breakfast.

    Onward and downward.

    USA Day 5 FD

    Decided I needed another FD. I again drank wine last night and you won’t believe why!!! I read that the Queen has a glass of wine everyday for lunch and a glass of Champagne every evening. I doubt that’s true, but it gave me an excuse!! LOL Unfortunately, my evening glass through me out of my meal plan calorie count. Okay, today I am trying again.

    FUNSHIPFREDDIE: Thanks for the article. I read it right after I measured myself and discovered I had lost a whole inch around my waistline! Yay! I also agree with the article. What we eat makes the big difference.

    SongBirdMe: There is food everyone! Someone is always offering some. People always are meaning well. For special occasions and dinners, I will still indulge! …but only on rare occasions.

    Day 5, Pocket List:

    @ccco

    Now, I have to see if I can beat that wine dragon. I think fatigue at night contributes to my lack of will power at night. I will do my best!

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Day 5 Canada NFD

    Quick check in, had a good FD yesterday and will be careful to keep going forwards and downward today. The Fd’s are often the easy ones!

    All the best for Day 5 everyone

    Day 4 Oxfordshire UK NFD
    Day 5 NFD
    Just checking in.
    I’m afraid this week is the start of Christmas temptation. Yesterday was lunch out with my mum. Then today was my folk dancing group’s Christmas meeting, so nibbles were available. I had a late breakfast and missed lunch so that I could eat something without too much guilt.
    Tomorrow will also be a NFD as DH & I are off to Winchester Christmas Market. Depending on the scales on Saturday morning I may have to make that a FD. we’ll see.

    @ciren2 I hope your daughter arrived safely and you enjoy your time with her.
    @daffodil2010 I hope you are feeling better soon, it sounds like a bad one.

    Thank you all for your good wishes for today.
    @suki2: Yes, she arrived safely and on time in London and we met up successfully at the lunch venue near Reading.
    @metatauta: @daffodil2010: You can bet I was excited too! To actually hug her again after nearly a year over 12,000 miles apart, was fantastic.
    @snowflake56: @funshipfreddie: The lunch was good, if rather large (huge, in fact) and indulgent. I had Thai style salmon fillets with french fries and salad, followed by my favourite chocolate ice cream!
    We had a good catch-up on our lives and plan to see each other again on Christmas day when she’ll stay over with her OH before spending time with his relatives.
    @bellyblast: You also have your children spread far and wide? So many do, these days, I’ve discovered. The young people spread their wings. What is Facetime? Is it the same as Skype, which we use?
    @at: Of course I will stick with you….you don’t get rid of me that easily….ha…ha! Actually I returned the water fasting book(let) to Amazon….what a waste of money. Superficial, lightweight, nothing that anyone doesn’t know already….just a thin book for over £10! I’m re-reading Michael Mosley’s 5:2 book, which has so much more science and substance to it, and much more motivating.

    Oh NO! I just lost my post!

    I thanked you all individually for your kind wishes, and told you all about our meet-up with DD today…..Aaarrgghh! I hate this site sometimes.
    Somebody suggested copying before submitting. I must try that.

    Thank you all for your good wishes for today.

    Hey, I looked on the history and found and copied it…it WORKED!!

    USA Day 5 FD

    Ciren2: Your post wasn’t lost! I got it twice! LOL In answer to your question about FaceTime. FaceTime is like Skype, except it comes with the Mac (Apple) computer. You don’t pay extra for it. I use it all the time with my family, since we are also spread out all over the place. I am glad you are enjoying your daughter’s visit. I can imagine it’s wonderful, especially as a holiday present for you!

    In any case, my FD has gone well so far. I did eat more than I planned but I was hungrier than yesterday. Now all I have to do is escape drinking wine tonight!

    Hope all is going well with everyone!

    Day 5 UK CD

    Days 3&4 disappeared with this virus which has now gone to my chest. Still spaced out and not going out – feels like I’m living in the twilight zone! Sleeping lots & eating OMAD well under TDEE, trying to remember to drink lots of ginger tea.

    Today feels more a OMAD CD than FD but I think I’m focussing on getting better first and fasting second.

    @jaifaim welcome back. Your epic cycling trip sounded… epic! Hope this is a good month for you x
    @daffodil2010 hope you feel better v soon
    @flourbaby way to go with 30DS!!
    @missybear been thinking of you
    @betsylee welcome back too
    @ciren2 how lovely that your DD is safely back for a long visit! I can’t imagine mine being on the other side of the world for a year. Glad you didn’t lose your post too 😀

    Day 6: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    @ccco: It’s because I made the mistake of trying to edit my post after I saw a minor mistake. At least, now I know a solution…look on the HISTORY and retrieve, COPY and re-post!

    Back to normal life again after meeting up with DD yesterday. It’s raining outside and I have a long day ahead of me at work. We’ll most likely not meet up again until Christmas Day. She’s meeting her old best friends today for a spa-day near Windsor! Her OH is still at work for the next week, then they go off on holiday.

    I was surprised to see that the extra and rich restaurant food yesterday did not show on the scales…..or…..are they misleading me again? I don’t quite trust them anymore!

    @michelinme: Sounds to me that you are doing exactly the right thing. Listen to your body and get plenty of rest. Get well soon xx

    Day 6 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    Well now this cold has gone into my chest and I am coughing and barking and it’s painful 😪

    Sorry for moaning about it, but this cold just won’t go away. I went to work yesterday and soldiered on, will go to work today but might well come home early if this chest gets on. I think I have made up my mind that I am not going to my party tonight….☹️
    Which I am sad about as I probably won’t get a chance to stay in this hotel again as it’s mega plush. But…..health first.

    @ciren2 so delighted you had a lovely lunch with DD

    @michelinme you and me both with the chest….hope you feel better soon

    Day 6, Emden Germany, NFD

    yesterday’s FD went well, only had beetroot soup.

    @ciren2 it must have been one of the best lunches you’ve ever had!

    @ccco haha, that’s a great excuse to drink! The Queen is 93 now so it can’t be that bad.

    @michelinme and @daffodil2010 hope you two will feel better soon.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 6 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

    @ciren2 – I got both your posts too! So it may disappear from the forum, but the emails still arrive…? The lunch sounded divine 😋

    Don’t know if this is quite ‘legal’ re my dry til Fri rule, but as today is a FD I declared today ‘Thursday’, and yesterday ‘Friday’. Just so that I wouldn’t feel too guilty about having a rum & coke last night. Or was it three? 😳 Does that make sense? Okay, I know it’s a stretch, and I need to pull myself together. But I don’t feel too distraught, seeing as I’m doing 4:3 this week…

    Day 6 – Lake district UK – NFD

    Good morning all,

    Result, after recent holiday, weigh in on 19th November I had put on 8 lbs in 2 weeks. But knowing what happened last time, just sneaked in an extra FD or two, more walking and this morning back to my low. All 8 lbs gone in 17 days!

    Total loss since end of July = 21 lbs, one and a half stone, feeling very good and extremely happy to have found a WOL that allows me to indulge occasionally but with a bit of work, continue to lose weight. It’s not always been easy, but there again, not that difficult, I just had to get my head round it…. and for me keep writing things down, including calories.

    26/7/19 BMI 38 BMR 1999 Weight 265 lbs = 120.2 kg
    6/12/19 BMI 35 BMR 1903 Weight 244 lbs = 110.6 kg

    My first target when I started was to get down to 237 lbs which would be 2 stone, only 7 lbs to go, it may be a bit slower going over the next month, but even so, it feels within reach! Then will look for another target!

    @funshipfreddie – know what you mean about not feeling guilty about having and extra slurp or treat, found my extra FD this last week has worked.

    Take care all, we can do it.

    Day 6, London, UK, NFD

    It’s the first of my 4 NFDs, but they WILL be controlled, I may even throw a FD in too.

    I’m determined to force a whoosh this week, so yesterday I did some serious dragon drowning – about 3L – which kept hunger at bay until dinner and surprisingly didn’t mean taking up residence in the loo. I must have been very dehydrated.

    Gosh @michelinme, you really have been suffering, you’re doing all the right things. I’m sure it’ll pass soon and you’ll be back on track, take care. xx

    @daffodil2010, you too are suffering, I hate a chesty cold, all that coughing starts the hammering in my head!! I hope you feel better soon too, couldn’t you rest and recuperate at the plush hotel?? Order loads of room service and don’t let your colleagues know you’re even there!!! Take care xx

    @funshipfreddie, the slippery slope awaits, before you know it, the week for you will be Sunday, Friday, Tuesday, Friday, Thursday, Friday, Friday, Friday, FRIDAY!!!!

    Way to go @i-hate-lettuce, I……… am ………… in …………… awe!!!!

    I’m off to Pilates in an hour, then I plan to stay busy, hydrated and out of the kitchen, I’ll complete the 30DS then have dinner & lock the kitchen door!!

    Day- 6- Atlanta, Ga- USA- FD

    So I decided to kick off the month with a 7 day water fast. My reasons for doing this is that I’ve not been sticking to my FD’s. So I’m trying to condition myself before I begin again. How many of you have done this, and what were your results? It wasn’t that difficult after day 3 for me. However, last night I found myself scrounging for food in the fridge. Fortunately, I didn’t go shopping this weekend and everything was in the freezer. I’m not a snacker so I hardly ever have them in the house. This weekend should be fine as I plan to be low key and relax in the house. Any thoughts on this guys?

    Day 6 Canada FD

    Yay for another FD, it’s a 4:3 week for me and I am as happy as can be about it.
    I’ve made a mental note to drink lot’s of water, thanks for the reminder @flourbaby
    @daffodil2010 I am sorry that you are so sick, sounds like a quiet night is a wise choice
    @i-hate-lettuce that is awesome, what an great WOL hey?
    Sounds like a lovely visit with your DD @ciren2, hope the mail is kind to you today
    Gotta let your hair down sometime @funshipfreddie 🙂
    I have not done any water fasts @the realwil78 but others have (@dykask)- good luck, if it’s too much plain old straight forward 5:2 might be an option, it is great to see you back:)

    USA Day 6 FD

    Rabbette, your fasting journey has been amazing! Great job! Daffodil2010, feel better soon! It’s never fun to be unwell over the holidays with so much to do! get well quick! Therealwil78, good luck with the 7 day fast. I’ve never been able to get past two days without being too tired and week.

    Got through yesterday’s FD successfully and without an evening glass of wine, so am going for another. I am so close to maintenance that there really is no reason for me not to get there. Adding myself to the pocket list and wishing you all a great FD.

    Really pleased with how the week has gone so far but entering my danger zone so extra push required to not blow all the good work
    @ciren2 so pleased to read about your lovely lunch

    Day 6 US Utah NFD

    It’s been an extra challenging week but I’ll keep on keeping on. Have a great day everyone!

    Another nightmare day on the deliveries….yet another batch of addressed but unsorted election leaflets, isn’t one lot per party enough?? We’re onto the second (at least) now. Anyway, finished about two hours over again. Also a wet, windy and thoroughly miserable, stormy day. My throat feels sore…oh…uh..

    @daffodil2010: DO look after yourself and get well soon xx
    @i-hate-lettuce: 8 pounds back off in 17 day…excellent!
    @therealwil78: I’m amazed at your willpower….SEVEN DAYS! Take care how you come off your fast…start light. Have a look on YouTube….lots of advice there.

    Yeah @ciren2 – I didn’t think I had it in me.

    Day 6, VA, USA, CD
    Day 5 NFD

    I’ve already started with a 2 egg, tomato, avocado breakfast that I calculated and saw was 480 calories!!! Oh dear. I WAS going to go for an FD? And maybe I still can squeak one out, but I won’t be hard on myself if it doesn’t happen.

    There is a get together I was invited to for tonight and must admit I just don’t feel like attending. Since I’m not super enthused (usually I love gatherings) I think I’ll listen to my instincts and just chill at home.

    I feel like a movie tonight and a hot toddy? I thought about calling a version of my drink a naked hot toddy *which means I was going to have it without the whisky! (I have a rum extract that I was going to try a dash of in hot water and lemon and see how it turns out) But instead it sounds a bit more like I should be having this hot toddy sitting on a fluffy blanket in front of the fire place. Oh well I guess either version of that would be a bit joyful. Haha

    I’ve also been scrolling through loads of pumpkin pie recipes. I was looking for a vegan keto one for me and an egg nog one for my sweetheart.

    @funshipfreddie – wow you do like carrots! Do you have different colored carrots available there? I found a typo in the article which was in how you calculate the waist hip ratio… it should be “waist measurement divided by hip measurement W ÷ H” not the other way around as the article says… (I’m dyslexic and had to get my SO to re-read it for me) I thought I was going crazy trying to do the calculation the article described and was getting a very different number.

    @daffodil2010 – oh dear tinnitus and hearing loss forever! Dang that sucks and all from a bad cold! And it sounds like its getting a bit worse… You could try a hot shower with a blend of some or all of these… Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary.
    I’m a bit of a sissy I don’t like going out with a cold because 1st I don’t want to pass it to other people (sounds like I’m nice, but really its just my ego wanting to always be spry and cheerful and I’m not when I have a cold) and 2nd b/c I know I’m feeling rough I know I could more easily catch something else going around. *I have enough yoga students whom seem compelled to still go to class even tho THEY DONT FEEL GOOD! My beef with that is yoga will happen the next week, its not like a one time a year gathering. The comment that got my goat the most was… “Yesterday I was so sick… <cough sniff sounds> but I’m feeling much better today” as they took off their shoes for yoga!

    @yo-yo-fletch – and you can see almost every other month there would be a big loss and then little loss so keep at it.

    @ccco – oh my I guess a trigger might just be reading the WORD that I dare not type but I know you are now thinking it. Hummmm hope I’m not sabotaging you right now. I too loved an evening cocktail (not every evening) but I’d say I was up to about 4 or 5 evenings a week vs now saving myself for the weekend or special occasion.

    @michelinme – you dear soul, hope you are soon able to kick that viruses butt!

    @ciren2 – be cautious I’ve had rich or indulgent food take two days to show up on the scale… and my scale(s) are both very much working.

    °°°·.°·..·°¯°·._.· – ·._.·°¯°·.·° .·°°°°°°·.°·..·°¯°·._.· – ·._.·°¯°·.·° .·°°°
    @therealwil78 – GREAT JOB on your 7 WFDs!
    °°°·.°·..·°¯°·._.· – ·._.·°¯°·.·° .·°°°°°°·.°·..·°¯°·._.· – ·._.·°¯°·.·° .·°°°

    @therealwil78 – I’ve done a couple extended WF (5 days or more) only up to 7 and yes totally agree by the 3rd day, really it gets so much easier. My experience when I’m feeling “snacky” I probably just need the dash of salt under the tongue followed by water. OR a bowl of just broth.
    When I am about to break my fast, I find that I like having a light soup (my trusted broth with some fresh cup up veggies is always nice and comforting) Also when I broke my first extended WF I found that I wanted more after the soup and think I indulged a bit too quick as I spent the next day constantly running into the rest room! Since then I’ve either had broth/veggie or just a carrot or two before having my first (small meal) then by the next day after I feel more ready to eat a regular meal. Be aware that you may experience fullness and to stop eating when you feel that (I tend to want to ignore it (read below what happened to me today. Ha)

    On an interesting side note today:

    I feel like I need to be added to the pocket list for my CD (made a soup for lunch, but have the full feeling from an earlier bite to eat) and almost ate the soup anyway! Seriously am I rebelling against feeling full? Its what I’ve waited for all my life is to feel full and not constantly want to graze!

    Had to make myself walk the rest of the soup into the kitchen and pour it into a jar for later so that I can save room (and calories) for a nice dinner tonight! Spying a lovely bag of Hint of lime tortilla chips did not help me in screwing the lid on that jar – but I did it anyway and stuck my tongue out at the bag of chips. Yes I revert to being 3 years old when I have won the game of food destruction over my mind.

    @rabbette thanks for the advice. I will defn try that!!! 2 more days to go!!

    Day 6 – UK – NFD

    A very grey and drizzly day here in cumbria……

    Went out with OH this evening for a meal, just the two of us – have not done that for a while – nice to have time out together ❤️

    @ciren2 – great to hear that you had a fab reunion with your DD and enjoyed your meal xx
    @ccco – I have to admit to indulging in some wine every night this week apart from my FD on Sunday!!!
    @michelinme and @daffodil2010 – hope this virus clears off soon and you start to feel better
    @funshipfreddie – love your rational about your dry till Friday swop with Thursday🤣
    @i-hate-lettuce – great job in dispatching those 8lbs in just 17 days!!
    @therealwil78 – I am in awe at your determination to kick off the month with a 7 day water fast @dykask was our Water Fasting expert but he has been absent for a while now – personally I have only managed 40hrs previously but not for a long time now…..Great Job!
    @rabbette – I’m smiling at the thought of you sticking your tongue out at that packet of Hint of lime tortilla chips…..

    Going to finish my cup of tea then head off to bed as I have a Pilates 1/2day workshop tomorrow starting at 0930hrs – looking forward to that as have not done all my regular classes this week so feeling the need for some exercise!!

    One of our previous regulars to these challenges @happymargo (if you are lurking in the background Hello 🤗) used to share the following with us – so I thought it apt to share them during this difficult Challenge Month of temptations……….
    1– “BACK TO 5:2 BASICS”
    2– Keep striving for “PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION”
    3– Before putting anything in my pie-hole, ask myself “WILL THIS GET ME CLOSER TO MY GOALS?”

    Day 7: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    Bracing myself for another day in the hell-hole of Christmas post plus election post plus (afterwards) putting next week’s advertising flyers into the frame! I think we have about two per household, but won’t be sure until the boxes are put out later today.
    Difficult to imagine that DD is only 100 miles or so away (rather than 12,000)!

    I’m hoping not to get rained on today….ha….ha!
    Have a good day everyone xx

    Day 7, Emden Germany, FD

    Pocket list day 7, if you want to join me, please copy and paste and add your name to the list (well, only me until now)

    @snowflake56

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 7 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

    @flourbaby – stop giving me ideas! Well, so long as not EVERY day is Friday 😅 I’m not messing with Saturday/Sunday 😉

    @therealwil78 – I’ve never done a water fast. I think the most drastic thing I’ve done is 5 days of OMAD. 7 days of water-only seems like a lot if you haven’t done one before. Personally, I would try 3 days first; then build up to longer. But good for you; I hope it’s going well!

    @rabbette – I haven’t noticed any different coloured carrots here, although I’ve heard there are purple ones. I must admit I’m not very adventurous with food. Well-spotted re the waist/height ratio!

    @ciren2 – hope you managed to stay dry? This time next week the election will be a distant memory! 👏

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Day 7 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    Came home early from work yesterday, slept for the afternoon, taking cough bottle and Vicks decongestant, and yesterday evening I could breathe again. I did not go to my party and it was a good decision as I feel so so much better today.

    Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Going to take it easy this weekend and FD starts again next week.

    Day 7 – Cumbria UK – CD

    Good morning everybody

    Well a really grey and glum day here yesterday,had to cut short the walking, set off in drizzle, within minutes pouring down! Like that on and off all day, so jobs around the house day, also watched the Horizon prog on catch-up, Eat Fast Live Longer. Pretty much summed up the 5:2 WOL nicely. More of a chance to get out for a stomp today though.

    Take care all.

    Day 7, London, UK, NFD

    I’m breaking the 6hrs of radio silence, typical weekend slow posting here!!

    Late check-in from me today, I’m making today a CD, aiming for below 1000kcals. I’ve just broken my fast with 260kcals so I’m on course as I’ve a veggie dinner planned for after my 6:30pm 30DS.

    The key to today’s success will be in keeping busy, so I’m off to do just that!!

    Happy weekend fasting to those who can!! Wishing control & mindfulness on those like me, who can’t!!!
