Can any one help with bad breath on fast days. I don’t know what to do about it. Am drinking a fair bit of water but it doesn’t seem to help.

I find drinking a pot of green tea with a teaspoon or more of fresh grated ginger root steeped in it helps. I have the tea pretty weak, so that I don’t get nauseous from the bitterness of the tea. The ginger stimulates the metabolism a bit more, settles everything right down and deals nicely with the early morning dog breath. (ginger is also anti-inflammatory, a good pain killer, but will thin the blood a little – for those who already take blood thinners – be cautious.) I like to drink about a litre, it helps deal with constipation as well. “Who has time to drink a pot of tea in the mornings?” I hear you cry! Well I find since losing a few kgs I need less sleep, and I just allow an extra hour in the mornings to have a lovely pot of tea in bed in the morning, read and think…. special me time. I continue to drink a lot through the day, it stops the hunger a bit too. I would suggest lemongrass tea too, and chai without milk. (I just add some cinnamon, a clove and a couple of cardamom pods to my green tea. Cardamom is excellent for bad breath; you can even just chew a cardamom pod.)
