  • I am doing 4:3. Most of the studies are done on alternate day fasting. So I’m going with 4:3, which is a nice compromise.

    Anyone else doing 4:3?

Right now I’m doing 5:2 plus what I call a “half-fasting day”, a third day which I keep to 700-800 calories with a 200-calorie snack in the afternoon, because a whole third day doesn’t quite fit into my situation. I’m doing it because I’m redoubling my efforts, having lost 30 pounds and having 20 more to go if I’m to get all the way back to my baseline adult weight. I’ve only done it for 2 weeks, but so far it’s working out well for me. How are you liking 4:3?

I’m doing ADF most of the time, but 4:3 is a nice compromise. You will have a set days, which works well for most of people. Good luck! Xxx

Thanks for your responses, but after thinking this over and being totally honest with myself, I think I’m going to start with 5:2 to ease into it. I have the 2 Day Diet books by Harvie, as well as Dr. Mosley’s book, so I’ll be combining principles of The Fast Diet with some of Harvie’s principles. I’ll be fasting on two consecutive days at 600 cals a day/low carb and eating normally the rest of the week (instead of Harvie’s portion controlled Mediterannean Diet). We’ll see how it goes, and I can always tweak from there.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I have been “on it” for the last 4 1/2 months. As I get easily bored, I change things to my needs. I have been doing calorie counting with an upper end of 1200; 5:3; 4:3; ADF; 16:8; 20:4… I decide each week what to do depending on my weekly social life and how I am feeling.

Today and for the next two days I do a vegetable juice (homemade with a blender and not juicer) “diet”, so no solid food, to give my system a rest and time to recover after my two week vacation. All three days will be under 600 calories, then I will have a “normal” day with up to my TDEE calories, then a normal fast day and then I will see.

    Best of luck
    Stef.

    Hi _teabrain_,
I started doing 4:3 a week ago and so far so good. Maybe my body needs a real BIG inspiration for this fasting system(I’m female). During eating days I eat according to LCHF but that’s not very high in calories either. I have to count them soon because I normally don’t count calories on those days.
The 4:3 seems fitting my daily schedule. I am a retired person so I can take this very easily and change days if something comes up.I fast on Monday-Wednesday-Friday but as I said it may differ from a week to another. We’ll see if I’ll start loosing weight and getting better blood sugar numbers. I don’t weigh terribly much but too much any way (75kg today and I am 160cm + almost 64 yrs old).I’ll try to follow this topic and see how you are doing.

I’m doing 4:3 at the minute and that works for me (as sometimes tend to have blow out weekends which would over compensate my 5:2 days) Also i admitt im quite impatient and like to see results quickly 😉
I only have 3 more pounds until my goal, so then i will plan to drop to 5:2 for a couple of weeks and if i still lose on that drop to 6:1

I started 4:3 on 24.3 with start weight 85.3kg. 5 fast days / 11 days later my weight is down in 84.5kg, totally -800grams weight loss. I am happy the result and after reaching my first goal 80.0kg i will go down to 5:2.

Have a nice weekend _teabrain_ and keep on going 4:3! 🙂

I plan to be on 4:3 until I reach a healthy weight for my height. Then go on 5:2 till I approach being under weight. From there Im guessing I’ll go 19.5/4.5 to maintain a type of CRAN combined with TDEE for their benefits. Return to 4:3 when I have 10lbs to loose. As far as foods go vegetables, fish and red beans ill keep to 3- 4 times per week and that wont change.

Yeah I’m new to this but in my second week, added in a third day. Fasting is so easy for me, I very rarely get hungry and am happy to just have liquids, or depending on hunger, adding in soup and protein/veg. Yesterday was a fast day, was not hungry so just had tea/water, did my usual run/sprint and 1.5 hour dog walk. All good. Back on food today, appetite has reduced too, so feeling good. I don’t like to be prescriptive tho, and if the 4:3 isn’t working for me, I will change it.

Hey Gang.. You guys are an awesome bunch… I am just getting off a cleanse and is very interested in trying the 4:3 IF. How do the fast days work… Does the week start on a Sunday.. For example, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday normal eating and Monday, Wednesday, Friday are fast days? So really it’s one day on and the next off… or do you technically end on Saturday normal eating, start Sunday again with normal eating, then alternate.. so really you’re alternating only during the week? Sorry for the confusion and silly question is it’s seemingly obvious.

I am currently 5’3 and weigh 165… now that I am off finishing up the cleanse.. Did the GM Diet 7 day cleanse.. usually feels GREAT after this and ready to start healthy eating.. I do it once a year.. usually after a crazy vacation:) Works great. I am also planning to do Insanity max:30 (intense cardio workouts) along with some strength training. Considering that I will be fasting on certain days and the insanity max:30 workout program calls for 5 consecutive days of working out, I suspect I may have to alternate and not follow the plan as I may be too hungry etc on fast days.

Is it ok to start this right after a cleanse?

All suggestions welcome… Thanks in advance for all of your helpful and frank responses:)!!
