  • Hi All, I’m a South African female wanting to drop at least 25kgs. I’m starting this challenge today in order to see how much weight we can loose in this 30 day period.Start date is 02 June 2016

We can share fasting dates and progress on a weekly basis.

You can reply to this post if you are on board.

Some support would be really great.

Hi, I’m in and will need your support. I’m 41 years old female 68 kg and need to lose 14 kg. I will start my first day of fasting tomorrow. I will however will do the 20:4 plan as I see it better fit my lifestyle.

Hi, I’m in and will need your support. I’m 50 years female 70 kg and need to lose 15 kg. I will start my first day of fasting tomorrow. I will however will do the 5:2 plan as I see it better fit my lifestyle.

    Sounds great. I’m excited.

Hello! I’m a 60-ish, 5’9″ American woman who needs to lose 40-50 lbs. I started what I thought would be an 5:2 or ADF yesterday (first days are always awful), but I feel so good today that I’m thinking of going the full four days that Michael Mosley did for his initial fast. I know how well this works. Thirty-five years ago in my 20s I partied my way to about 35 extra pounds and ultimately lost it through fasting and running (Dick Gregory was my inspiration). I now work a gym visit into my day–30 minutes on an elliptical (easier on the knees) and 30 minutes on the treadmill–watching cooking shows. I look forward to it!

    Hi T and welcome:

Dr. M did not do an initial 4 day fast to start 5:2 – I’m not sure where that came from, but you are not the first to suggest it. In his documentary he tried a 4 day fast to see what it was like and what kind of blood work results he might see, but it had nothing to do with weight loss, only life extension, which is what the show was about.

He decided it was unrealistic for people to do and rejected the idea.

I highly recommend that you be happy with your first successful fast day and schedule another one in a couple of days. People that try to start out with a 4 day fast usually fail, and then usually quit 5:2.

    Good Luck!

Please let me know how I join the June challenge. Many thanks.

Hello @gardengypsy and @paulmarsh – I noticed you had inadvertently posted on last year’s June 16 challenge. So I’m adding you to the 2017 challenge and here is the link that forum.

I’m joining the June challenge. I’d like to lose11.34 kg/ 25 lbs (we sort of use both in Canada!) eventually. Started the 5:2 in late May but thought at first I’d go it alone. But maybe group encouragement can help! The first week was fine, although I was sleepy by 7PM on fast and non-fast days. Lost 2 lbs my first week!
