  • Low gi maybe, but still 86% carbohydrate and somehow stuff up the gut and don’t satiate.
Keep them for non fast days. πŸ™‚ P

Disappointed today. I have put on 1.4kgs this week. Been on this way of life for 2 1/2 months now. Haven’t missed a fast day and most non fast days, I have stayed under my TDEE. My weight has been all over the place. Some days I am down about 4kgs from when I started but now only 2.4kgs. On Friday I blew it, went out for tea, had an eye fillet with chips and vegetables. Didn’t eat all the chips, but did have half a chocolate moose. Also I did drink a fair bit (usually am the one driving, so I took advantage of the fact that I could have a drink for a change, lol). Anyway I decided to do a small fast on Sunday to try and make up for it. I didn’t eat until Dinner, but we ended up having fried rice and sweet and sour pork for tea. I know I blew it, I thought I might put on about 1/2kg, didn’t expect a 1.4kg increase as I did well ever other day. Checked my measurements and they have stayed the same. Feeling angry at myself. At the time I really felt like I wanted to just forget about my weight for one night and have a good time, but now I wonder if it was worth it. Just a bit fed up with always watching what I eat when everyone around me seems to eat what they want and still stay slim (should see what my partner can eat and drink but never put on weight). Anyway sorry for the whinge but I just needed to vent before I try to forget about this failure and just continue on with this WOW. I believe it can work, I just got to try harder.

Come on Keirra! Whinge away! That’s what this forum is for.
You say the others can eat what they like and stay slim? Do what I do, go down to the food court of your local shopping center and watch the obese people filling their faces with food. It is such an incentive to keep fasting! πŸ˜‰

Remember it is normal for your weight to fluctuate 2-3 kgs even within one day. We are organisms, not machines. Graph the long term changes (do you use the forum Tracker?). This is a long term, life changing way of eating, not a quick fix then go back to the old ways. Your eating patterns and taste for food will change if you listen to your body and learn through your experience.
You can do it mate! Go fot it. P

    Hi Keira,
Don’t dispair! Have a serious check of the various ingredients in some of the things that your body might be reacting to…such as salt or alcohol, maybe even diet soft drinks. Sometimes it’s not the calories which are to blame for increasing your weight, but other stuff….for example, my issue is salt. I never thought much about it until I had a small couple of ‘low cal’ take aways, and I put on 2.4 kg in one week of the fast!! Afterwards I looked at what those tasty dishes contained, and they were super high in salt, but low in calories.
So nowadays I avoid salty things as I swell up like a balloon, even though I crave it.

Please don’t give up on yourself! This way of life is worth sticking at, and makes a house difference to your total health, not just your weight.

    Hi Kierra,
Totally Ok to whine- I had a fast day yesterday and PUT ON nearly 1 kg – which I’m putting down to fluid retention due to deranged hormones. Alcohol is a shocker for empty calories and a dehyrating effect so you feel bloated afterwards. Look at the long term trend…Anyhow I am very new to this so not nearly as experienced as many on this forum, but hang in there!

Lol PVE .. Can’t have my gold and diamond laden fingers getting too skinny.. Not! Generali.. I can’t eat grapes during fasts.. I find them too acidic and it gives me stomach cramps .. Anything acidic actually .. I stick with the berries if I have any.. Strawberries, blueberries etc but not heaps of them.. I also find I can’t drink too close in time to when I eat something .. You’ll work out what it is.. Everyone’s different I guess

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. I had a good fast day yesterday, and will just continue to remind myself that this WOW is worth doing for a number of reasons. Purple, I have noticed that my eating patterns and taste for food has changed. I don’t seem to crave chocolate as much anymore and after dinner eating has stopped. ihaveawaist, I don’t have soft drink or alcohol very often (except for last Friday lol) but you maybe onto something with the salt. Although I never add salt to my food, I also have not been checking to see how much has already been added. It is something that I will have to start checking. Maltesers, I really do believe that hormones do have a lot to do with it. Mine are deranged as well (menopause). Not that I am using that as an excuse, but it is definatly harder to lose weight now, than it was 5 years ago. I have also notised that if I am upset about anything, then no matter how good I do, I will not lose weight and are more likely to put on. I am reminding myself of the positives, like not needing to eat at night, feeling better about myself and having control over food, (not it having control over me). Also I am proud of myself that over the last 2 1/2 months, I have not missed a fast day, even though life has thrown in a lot of obstacles. Like having to go on two road trips (5 hours each way at night) and I have had to stay at other peoples houses, all while fasting. Yesterday I had to go into Melbourne for a very stressfull and long visit with a new specialist for my son, but did not break my fast. So I will try to concentrate on what I have achieved and not on the numbers on the scales. Hopefully they will slowly go down and this time next year I will be reaping the results. Thanks again everyone

Well done Keirra. With such a positive attitude and plan of action, you will be rewarded. As is often said on this forum, the race to better health and weight loss is a marathon not a sprint.

Of course we all want it “NOW!” but the slower process is beneficial in allowing us to gradually reset our attitudes and practices wrt food and our whole lifestyle, such that they become our new habits.

December is a challenge for me as well as most other people. There are so many external social events added to family ones like my daughter’s birthday and our wedding anniversary in the lead up to Christmas. I had hoped to shed 2.5kg by the end of the year but as my weight has been stationary for two weeks (auto correct changed it to ‘stationery’ πŸ˜† ) despite fasting mostly 2 days/week I may have to completely desist from eating after Christmas to achieve it – apart from Boxing Day that’s of course highly likely πŸ˜‰

One bright note is that about 3 months ago I halved my BP meds and now even on that half dose my bp is consistently well below 120/80 so, with GP’s approval, when I go on leave I will halve again. My approach is to check bp morning and night in the week following the med. reduction so I can adjust if things go awry, therefore not as risky as might seem at first glance.

Happy hump day my fasting friends and keep up the good work.

    Hi BKD

So glad your daughter is ok and that your fight is only with Nissan. Hope it all goes well for you, together with house sale.

    Cheers, Bay πŸ™‚

Hello All, thought I’d check in. I’m on week 4 and have had my first fast day of the week – decided to try the approach of nothing all day and having my 500cal in one meal in the evening – which ended up being at about 7.45-8pm ish. It was totally fine through the day then it was raining heavily so I had to take the bus home instead of cycle – for some reason when I’m hungry I get bad motion sickness so that was an unpleasant journey of worrying the whole way if I was going to have to get off!!
That’s 2.5kgs off so far – according to the scales this morning – I’m happy with that bearing in mind my main focus is Cholesterol and the weight loss is a welcome bonus.
I am using the myfitnesspal app to track my TDEE (I haven’t been particularly strict) and how I am doing with regard to the ratios of fat/protein/Fiber as detailed in the book I got from the library ‘Cut your Cholesterol’. My focus over the next few weeks is to join a yoga class to address the potential stress element of life which may also be a factor in my cholesterol.
This may be an over share but for anyone else out there that struggles with the black dog of depression so far I feel like there has been no positive or negative impact on this part of my life. I think this is in part due to the fact that I attempt to manage my cycles with exercise and there is no change to what I have been doing with that with the 5:2 approach.
    Interesting journey so far.
Christmas Party today :o) I’m off to enjoy some BBQ lamb Mmmm and maybe a couple of glasses of bubbles..

hello again, it’s the relative newbie here. I’ve now done 3 fast days in the last 9 days, finding that they are OK to handle so far, but tired and have to go to bed a bit earlier! Weight loss initially dramatic and then crept on again, so I suspect lots of water/fluid/electrolyte rearrangement. Minimal weight loss BUT clothes feel a bit easier already. And when I did eat a large meal, one that even 3 weeks ago I would have scoffed down without thinking, I did feel quite unwell afterwards.
So, I’m cautiously giving it the heads up, though off to A friends graduation (a very mature PhD no less) so the weekend will be the champagne diet! Hoping that amongst other benefits, this helps me weed out the sugary stuff from a pretty entrenched habit.

Hi Davsbowe, I just take the tablets for anxiety, BUT I do think that the fasting seems to clear my brain a bit- I have a fairly demanding job/ lifestyle and am finding that the endless major- decision making is a wee bit easier…hang in there….it’s all part of the whole picture. I am sure less bloody chocolate will make me feel better in the long run, it’s been my undoing!

Great to catch up on a weeks’ worth of posts, welcome Generali, we accept poms, I’m one myself. Hootinannie & jenklar, great achievements, well done! ihaveawaist – loved hearing your news and bigk, nothing more precious than the health of your children. Hi PVE and other regulars. I was wondering where that recipe was going – and then you added the fish! Mmmm, might try that one.

Mine’s a more modest weight loss but I can’t stop singing the praises of 5:2 or work out why everyone’s not doing it! Seeing my now very visible results has encouraged a lot of friends to start which is fun. This week I attended three social functions and still lost 500gms. I have started to wait longer before having the first ‘meal’ on a fast day – I’m now up to 1pm before giving in. In fact yesterday, I had only 360 cals and wasn’t the least bit hungry all day.

I’ve lost about 12.5 kgs since returning from a holiday in Africa in January this year. 7.6 kgs are attributable to 5:2 which I began in August. BP is down. My knees don’t hurt as much. People are constantly commenting. Of course, I’ve been here before – but the difference is that, this time, I won’t be gaining it all back because this is a way of life for me now.

I’m so much happier without the extra bulk. I see Christmas as no excuse. I will however change my Xmas Eve fast day to the Tuesday because I do intend to carry on my tradition of mince pies and egg nog with rum while wrapping up the pressies. Brilliant!

wow, in the time it took me to write that, there are several other posts – hi maltesers, nicky, bay & welcome newbies!

Hi everyone and welcome to the new starters.
I had a bad week last week eating wise so didn’t even bother weighing.

I am back to 59.9 today (had a good fast yesterday).I am better if there is no tempting cakes etc at work!! No willpower at times. Lost some cm’s as well. To be honest I was hoping to be at goal by now. I started in August but I have had bad eating choices so all in all I can’t and shouldn’t complain.

Well done for all the losses and glad your daughter is ok BKD and keep up with this WOl to everyone else.

It probably is harder at this time of year but I think life is too short to miss out on life pleasures but all things in moderation. I will try for this.
Happy Friday and fasting or feasting.
    Jane

    Hi Jane
What is ‘goal’ for you? It’s a good idea to aim for the middle of normal or healthy range to give yourself ‘wriggle room’, up or down, for maintenance. πŸ™‚ P

    Where’d everyone go?

Just wanted to share something from my doctor (hadn’t visited since January). He weighed me, recorded it and said, “bloody hell, what have you been doing?”. I told him and he said there are only three ways to lose weight:
    -brain injury where you forget to eat;
    -lap band surgery; and
    -5 and 2.
Then he added, “actually there is a fourth – being diagnosed with diabetes scares the pants off a lot of patients and they suddenly start losing weight”.
I asked if he recommended 5 and 2 to his patients and he said, yes, definitely and he has patients and friends all getting good results.
So, there’s another GP endorsement – not that we really need it.

    Go thinat!!!
Nothing like impressing the medicos. All helps to spread the word.
I think everyone, like me, is running themselves ragged in the build up to the 25th.
Happy Christmas SHs. May you continue to lose or maintain in 2015. P πŸ˜†

Take it easy PVE! Thanks for the good wishes, same to you.

Well done thin, it’s great when we get a genuine, third party, unbiased thumbs up- to remind us that this way of eating actually WORKS!
Hope everyone is keeping their heads, as the Christmas drinks and parties are starting to hit, as well as the big event itself…..this year I’m doing a large paela dish, packed full of seafood, with a berry, cherry trifle to finish the meal.
Cheers to one and all, and remember….if you keep singing carols, it’s harder to jam your gob full of treats!

Hi Purple, IHAW and thin, and all SHers.

Hope you all have a happy Christmas and will check back in the New Year. Right now we’re into lots of brunches, lunches and dinners to celebrate with friends and family.

I fast when I can, and reduce food intake on any day in which we are eating with others. Cold vegetable soup on hot days and hot vegetable soup on cold days. The cold soup with ginger and chili makes a fabulous cold drink on a hot day. πŸ˜†

As long as I fast, I am ok. πŸ˜‰ and can stay within the 2 kg wriggle room. I’m doing an extra fast this week in prep for the Christmas week.

Have fun all with friends and family. Cheers, Bay πŸ™‚

Well done, Thin. IHAW, your dinner sounds perfect. Cool for our Summer. πŸ˜‰ Like you, we gave up those hot Christmas dinners years ago. B

    Hello All,
Just joined this site but started 5:2fasting with partner in April. Loved my smooth weight loss in the first months, got a little waylaid by holidays and travel but rededicating myself because I feel so much better weighing less. My best advice is choosing the fast days and sticking with the choice, shopping ahead and telling my friends!!!
Chtistmas celebrations go on and on I can always have that treat tomorrow!
Some of your food suggestions sound delicious!
Christmas cheers and good health ahead! EAB

I’ve just scrolled through the posts as I have had something bugging me for the past week. I read a comment in relation to carbs which said that they weren’t necessary, but it turns out that I didn’t read it properly, must have been distracted at the time. PVE mentioned cutting out starchy carbs, certainly on fast days, and I do agree with this sentiment, but too many people try to cut out carbs completely and I need to stress that we need to eat SOME carbs for brain function. Cut too much out long term and you may notice a decline in your ability to concentrate. So I agree with PVE but we need to ensure that as with all diets moderation is the key. Sorry to go all serious all of a sudden and out of the blue!

On another note I got some photos from my daughters school and there was a photo of the two of us on her first day. Glad to say that while there is still room for improvement, I no longer look so lumpy. πŸ™‚
    HB
(And now back into lurkdom I go!)

    Hi HB πŸ™‚
Pretty hard to cut out all carbohydrates. They are in most things. What is a problem seems to be all the processed carbs. If you choose beautiful organic flour to make your own bread this has to be better than shop bought for example.
Many of us found by consciously cutting out processed white carbs the weight goes and so does the craving for overeating.
All (good) things in moderation πŸ™‚ Cheers P

Exactly PVE! My partner is into bodybuilding and hence low body fat. His diet can be pretty obsessive at times and every so often he “cracks” and craves carbs excessively when he has normally cut them out almost entirely. He keeps telling me that I should eat like he does if I want to lose weight, but really NO THANKS! A pretty grim way to eat sometimes. πŸ™‚ I much prefer 5:2 where I can still eat my favourite things.
    HB

    Hi aitchbee/PVE,

I also agree with ‘carbs are not the bad guys’ there are simply better choices to be made about which ones to have and which to avoid or at least limit your intake of.
I mentioned the other day that I was following advice on the balance my diet with regard to the ratios of fat(30%)/protein(20%)/Carbs (50%) from which you should be aiming for no more than 13g Sat Fat 25g or more of Fiber and no more that 300mg of Cholesterol from ingested foods as detailed in the book I got from the library ‘Cut your Cholesterol’.

Myfitnesspal lets you change all the Fitness Goal settings to keep an eye on how you are tracking with your food choices for all these things. It’s very interesting but I’m feeling a bit of tracking fatigue! one of the things I was hoping to get away from with 5:2 after so many years of ww!

Being healthy is more important than whether or not I’m over tracking my food intake…right!

    Hi davsknox
I find the longer I’m doing this the better my body gets at choosing a wide range of healthy foods.
Cut out the rubbish and your body takes care of your needs.
20 months is long enough to have changed my habits completely. Cheers P

    Hi P,
My goal was 58 which puts me at the top end on the BMI. I thought I could try for 55 but it is taking time and I will see how it goes. I’d like to get to 58 at least but wriggle room would be nice. I guess I am not that strict on feast days but I don’t go too much over my 1200 cals.

I have one grudge to whinge about. I ran my lipids on Friday. Had a 12 hour fast after a fast day, so was expecting a good result. Total cholesterol is up as well as LDL and Non HDLC. The previous results were done 8 months ago.

I was not happy. I will run them again in a couple of months and see if there is any positive change. Honestly I was shocked.

I have read posts of lowering of lipids, sugars and blood pressure.

Rant over ( for the mean time).
Happy fasting to everyone and good luck with the coming festivities.
    Jane
    Jane

    G’day Jane.
My original goal was “below 60”. Made that in April 14 after 12 months on 5:2.
Since then I fast twice a week but had no intention of dropping any more. Today I hit a pb of 56.1 before the fast! Whoo hoo! I now aim to eventually get to 55. I know, only .2 kg, but to be averaging 55 I’ll have to be sometimes at 54, sometimes 56. It will take time. I’m not concerned or in a hurry as I know that is my correct size. It will just happen. πŸ˜‰
Be patient. Your body will reach the correct weight with determination and patience.
Enjoy the season, just think before you eat. I like lhaw’s advice…hard to eat when you’re singing! P

Hi I am from Sydney in Aus.
Always struggled with my weight and saw the 5:2 diet on a current affair program on Sunday night.
Today is my first day of fasting and have managed to keep my calories to 524 – I am pretty pleased with that the first day. Use Calorieking.com.au to keep track of the calorie count – they have a great database of aussie foods.
It seems that Monday and Thursday are the favourite days – might do that but also might do a fast on alternate days to get some quick runs on the board. Love having a blog to keep me motivated.
    thanks

Welcome jillypaull on such a sad day for we Sydneysiders.
You’ve started well. Have you read The Fast Diet book? It gives you the science behind this as well as lots of other details.
Calculate your stats on the homepage here, measure yourself as per the tracker. It is amazing how your body changes.
I would suggest mastering 2 fast days properly to start. You can vary it once you are used to fast days. Monday and Thursday work well. This is a long term way of eating, it takes time to reverse years of damage, but it WILL happen.
    All the best, PVE

    Hi Jillypaull,

This site is great for information and guidance from people who have had terrific results.
You can also have a rant and vent a bit if you need. We all have a battle of sorts.
Good on you for giving this a go.
I use myfitness pal and find it good except it is in kj. I will check out Calorieking, thanks.

    Jane

    Hi Jane

I also use myfitnesspal. You can change kilojoules to calories in your Profile, plus other units, pounds to kilos, inches to cm etc.

Hope that helps, it’s a great app!

Wow, Purple. 56 kg. πŸ˜† what an achievement. Well done! What a star πŸ˜‰

I am now under 60 kg again. Very happy that any new weight vanishes with two proper fasts. Bay πŸ™‚

Congratulations bay and PVE. Fabulous results to share, inspire and be proud of.

Welcome jillypaull. Try and keep below 500 cals on fast days, that’s key to success. Your eating habits on the other days will adjust in time.

Stick with it birdlady, you’ll be fine over time. We’re with you.

Sickening day for all Australians PVE. I feel so sad for the victims’ families – they must feel so alone with the new ‘PC’ way the media reports such atrocities, all walking on eggshells.

    Hi all
    I’m from Melbourne.
My husband has been doing this for a while – he lost a little bit of weight but then stopped and put it back on again. haha
Yesterday I decided to start this too! I’m on my first fasting day today and have found that I am not actually hungry, but missing the idea of eating. I think I just want to snack because I can, so it might be more habitual than anything.
I am also finding that one Oats 2 Go in the morning filled me up and so do cups of tea. Looking forward to seeing the results after a few months πŸ™‚

Welcome Emiline79! A brave time to start – well done for making the choice. I agree with the oats as a good low GI choice for keeping the hunger at bay. And I also sip flavoured teas during the day. I think you’re right, there are often years of habits to break. Try planning out your whole fast day ahead (I do all mine for one month) and then there’s no temptation to just eat this or that as the day progresses. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I watched the documentary on SBS Eat Fast & Live Longer in November, bought the Fast Cook and the Fast Recipe books today. Very interesting lifestyle choice with proven results and science behind it. Enjoying reading all your posts and improving my health and losing a few KG’s in the process. I am North of Melbourne but relocating to Portarlington in a few months. I am 45 (female) with a 3.5 year old son and slowly recovering from CFS.

Welcome and all the best with your new adventure Gabby. PVE

Thanks for the welcome guys it is a great help to have the blog to check in and seek advice. Will make sure I check in regularly. Good luck to everyone.

    Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all doing well in the run up to Christmas.

Thanks for the encouragement PVE and Bay, and good on you for your consistency with keeping your weight off. I hope that I will be just as successful.

I had two good fasts and down to 59.4 Yipee!! Am a little worried about next week. I think I can fit one fast in. People tend to bring in yummy food and I don’t know how much willpower I will have.

Thanks Flange42 for the tip with Myfitness pal, I have changed it. I am hopeless with technology.
    Happy Friday everyone.
    Jane

    That’s excellent results birdy!

Yes this time of year is generally one of excess exuberance in the food and drink department, but all in all, keeping the two days going through it, gives us fasters some calm perspective and control. Even a small sense of relief during all the strange craziness of friends and family get togethers….hopefully they’ll notice what great shape you are in, and not try to sabotage your efforts, or poopoo the fabulous health benefits you are now gaining!

This morning, I’ve got to a full 25 kg off my original weight of 88kg, so I’m now 63 kg!!…which was a revisied goal from earlier this year…I’m going to try for a nice new goal of 60 kg by the middle of 2015. Which I reckon is completely doable, as well as nice and easy. While still keeping me in the healthy weight range.

I also made an appointment for a complete checkup in March, when I’ll be 52. Looking forward to seeing what my blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol is doing two years on from starting the 5:2. Planning ahead is a big thing for me, I like the feeling of some small certainties in life, especially when other things around us feel so out of control and sometimes so scary. (like this week in Sydney, and then Pakistan)

I want to thank each and every one of you for being so friendly, helpful and compassionate. This has been a big year for all of us, and I wish us all a beautiful, peaceful time of celebration and remembering the important things in life, like love, gentleness and being true to yourself!

Please take good care of yourself and your loved ones!
Keep them close and let them know you adore them!
Cheers my dears, much love, K xx

Hi everyone, new to the board, have played at this since first seeing the programme on NZ TV Oct 13, but am now serious in shifting these 15kgs to get to my goal weight and hopefully stay there!!! Just booked the holiday for next winter so got 23 weeks to shed it all one last time. Always used to be slim but was a lot more active then, also smoked for years, now I don’t have that excuse!!! Work in a kitchen full time so not always easy to be around food all day, plus its our own business so work long hours, so easy to eat the wrong foods at the wrong times!!! This time though I am determind, OH is with me and does 5:2 but I prefer 4:3 to keep me on the right track. Looking forward to the journey with you all…….

    Greeting from Australia

I went to see my Doctor 10 months ago . He informed me , that by blood pressure had started to go up more and he needed to put me on stronger blood pressure pills.. 90/170 ( high blood pressure for 10yrs age 49yrs )

My Doc said to me , you need to do something about your weight 100gks !! Your starting to get over weight he said.. This was very depressing to hear from him. And I wasn’t too happy with him as well , because he was more over weight them me!!!!

I was at a lost ! and didn’t know what to do about my blooming blood pressure and weight …. In till I saw Dr Mosely documentary on 60 mins!!

About the 5-2 fasting .. After just 7 weeks on the 5-2… I have lost 10kgs and my blood pressure has gone from the above reading to 126/70 I have been blown away by the results . I can not thank Dr Mosley enough for this weight lose program ..

I have all 3 books and now I live by them ..

I exercise regularly on my new cross trainer that my wife purchased for me as a early Christmas present ..

I went back to see my Doctor. To show him my weight lose . When he came out of his consulting room . I was shocked to see, he had lost a huge amount of weight himself !!!

When I asked him how he lost the weight he said, I have been on the 5-2 fasting by Dr Michael Mosley!! My Doc had lost 18kgs ! And he looked amazing!!

I hope to reach 80kgs and keep it there with low blood pressure for life!!

    Great story BPdown!
Congratulations to you and your marvellous role model gp. Keep up the good work.
Welcome Turnabout. You CAN do it. It takes patience and determination. πŸ™‚

Hello fellow 5:2 ers, I’m about to start my 5:2 journey this coming Tuesday (plan to go Mon/Thur) but Xmas shifts things and no excuses not to start. I’m based in Canberra so am delighted to see a forum for us Southerners. I was encouraged to join this forum after reading ‘thinatlast’ post of 16 Dec (thank you for that) about planning meals a month in advance as I’m in my comfort zone when I have things planned out.
I intend to have 5 meals planned to repeat in one week and just rotate until I get bored.

I’m pulling this plan together this weekend and would welcome any tips on a two meals a day based approach. The pattern that seems to suit my lifestyle is to wake up with black coffee and then haven breakfast at 11 or 12 and then eat dinner at 7 ish. For my OH I’ll just add something extra to get him to 2510kj. My morning meal will be eaten at work so I need something no fuss and portable.

I’ve got over 20kg to lose but like the idea of this being a gentle health gain with coincidental weight loss. I’m in no rush and health is my driver and to make sure I don’t keep putting weight on like I have been.

I look forward to reading all the posts and have enjoyed them so far so thank you to everyone.

    Hi everyone ,

Congratulations to everyone! Well done! Welcome Harmony23, and well done for not letting Christmas put you off starting. BPdown, fantastic result and for your Dr too. That’s a great encouragement for us and for his patients, spreading the word by example.

Have only posted on here once when I started in November, but still going and 5 1/2 weeks in. Have lost 4kgs, so I’m very happy, especially as that has covered Christmas lunches etc, an African party to welcome some children safely brought out of a difficult situation and the last of the family after 4 yrs of effort, a birthday party etc etc. Worked my fast days around events and kept to 2 a week mostly Mon and Thurs.
my fast days have settled down to 1 boiled egg with salt at 11am, a meal about 6.30pm of 125 gms canned salmon and salad of baby spinach, cos or oak leaf lettuce + fresh herbs thyme, lemon thyme, parsley, mint, and Vietnamese mint chopped and mixed through the other leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, 2 small canned baby beets, and grated carrot with a tspn of Paul Newman Light Balsamic Dressing, and ground pepper especially over the tomatoes. 3-4 strawberries after dinner. I’m finding strong tastes help a lot of fast days to eliminate ‘taste hunger’. Seems to make my mouth think it’s eaten more.

Drinking water when hungry, snacks of tiny amounts eg 1 pistachio, 1 cherry tomato, 1 strawberry, a nori sheet (9cal) is a bit wierder but works for me. Weak Earl Grey tea, peppermint tea, sparkling water, black coffee with a dash of milk, are all good drinks for me.

Merry Christmas everyone! (I plan to enjoy Christmas and Boxing Day, then fast on the 27 th)

    Merryme

Turnabout, welcome! Hope alls going well for you in this silly season, which must be very busy for you.

    Merry Christmas!
