  • I’ve just started this diet and it’s going well so far, but I’m a bit concerned about how this will affect by bones long term. My mother and sister both had osteoporosis diagnosed so it’s very likely I have it too. Does this diet ensure you eat enough calcium and vitamin D? I’m not keen on taking calcium supplements, which in any case didn’t seem to agree with me when I tried once before.

This diet doesn’t restrict what you eat, just how many calories. Make sure you eat foods that contain calcium and less of food that don’t help with preventing osteoporois. This site looked informative: http://nof.org/foods, although you may already know this.

You are the one who has to be sure you have enough of the right foods.

IGF-1 is important to growth of bones. Since this diet reduces IGF-1, would the maintaining of bone density?
